The simple fact that EBT/SNAP fraud has been proven to be extremely low destroys this fantasy that all those people are thieves with co-conspirator friends/family whom they will sell the extra food to. The vast, vast majority are people who wanted to get more food for their family while they could.
I'm not speaking in generalities. I am speaking about a specific incident that has occurred and displayed American's general lack of morality/discipline when it comes to consumerism.
Personally, I think the fact that you lump together people who took advantage of a very short-lived glitch to get more food (when up until now the vast majority of these people have been lawful users of EBT/SNAP) and the wall st bankers who brought the world economy to its knees back in 08' points to severe ignorance or socipathic mentality - or both - on your part.
It all comes from the same petty place. No need to make distinctions based on socio-economic realities.
The bolded is conjecture on your part, but maybe true based on general statistics. I would surmise that people willing to jump on this opportunity are more likely the type that would participate in other types of fraud/schemes in their lives. Risk takers.

No, they are assholes. Just because they are poor doesn't free them of criticism. The same for assholes who happen to be handicapped or elderly.
I'll save my compassion and concern for the non-assholes in the world. There are plenty of those people that need it.
