The default 360p resolution sucks. It takes forever for the video to change resolutions, if it does at all. The buffering sucks (it was fine until maybe a year ago). Hiding the "Hide Annotations" button that I use on almost every single video sucks. I still haven't found a way to browse categories from the main page. The new comment system sucks. The constant attempts to get me to use my real name are fucking annoying.

Literally the only thing Youtube has going for it is the amount of content. I guess it's not totally ugly anymore, but based on the way I use it, the usability has gotten worse with almost every single change. No other site I use has managed to do that.

I do that, but it doesn't work everytime for me. Sometimes I have to reload the tab.

It's also an inelegant "hack" for something that shouldn't be necessary. Let me set 720p as the default. I guess they want to save data volume by all means.

I have the same suspicion. My connection can easily handle HD streaming and changing the settings in my profile changed nothing.

Edit: There must be a Firefox add-on or a userscript for this since it's a very common issue.

It's pretty obvious. There are several changes that reflect that, like the fact that it only buffers a fraction of the video. I used to be able to buffer a whole video and go somewhere where I had no internet connection, like taking my iPod Touch on the bus. Now the video stops immediately with an error message when you lose your connection.
