Hmm. I'm not sure that's fixable at this point. I mean, if I didn't have Community threads anymore where I could go offtopic with people I "know", I probably wouldn't be visiting at all at this point. I mean, I totally agree with Stump on almost everything, but what are we supposed to do? Gaming is a disease-infested troll hole at this point, and the worst part is that it's often not easy to pinpoint a single post or poster that you can get rid of in order to improve things, because it's just a general direction a thread's taking. "Hivemind", if you will.

I truly think a "like" system would help to reduce some of the noise. I know GAF doesn't like this kind of stuff, but there's just too many posts and to little contribution at this point.

When I was posting in Halo Community threads the shit was perfect until a huge wave of kiss ass Bungie.net tards rolled in. And the Halo threads in gaming were still worse. I wasn't scared to post over in gaming. I was tired of the same shitty trolling, same memes, gif spam and general shit you get when you let more and more waves of shitty juniors wash in. In all honesty the desire for "good discussion" is at odds with the necessary revenue to keep it afloat. If they want good discussion just about anywhere they need better purging but it's not going to happen. It's not the job of generally better or more well thought out posters to try to stem the overwhelming tide of shitposting. They're not going admit that they've taken on way more members than they can handle and shuffling community away to it's own forum made for safe havens. If those things get disrupted or people start getting banned for throwing too much shade, they're going to leave entirely not go back to posting in gen pop. Someone here, I think experiment, called it when he said that treating everyone as replaceable was going to bite them squarely in the ass.

I don't disagree about the quality of the discussion going down. But Evilore wants to stomp out of the community threads to have them stop being "insular circle jerks" as he said years ago.

Discussion goes down: People are too afraid to post their honest impressions in the proper/game thread because of the quality of discussion being so low.
