I always just hate the notion that acquiring a taste for something is nonsense. Mind you, if you absolutely loathe something that's non-essential, I don't think you owe it to anyone to persevere and keep eating/drinking it. However, with many things, it's true as you acclimate to the difference in taste, you transition from disliking it to appreciating it. I wouldn't derisively declare that anyone needs to acquire a taste for anything, but I always hate it when you explain that something is an acquired taste, and the response is that you're just conceding that it's terrible because if it was good you would have just liked it right off the bat.
It just often reads as "I'm no sheeple; you're not going to brainwash me into liking your disgusting crap."
