I enjoyed the shootbang parts of Rage. I loved how the enemies reacted to your shots and the enviroment around them. The guns were satisfying. The overworld, vehicles and hubs were worthless though. The final level and ending were terribad and ruined the games perception.

I was disappointed when Prey 2 was announced and had nothing to do with the first one. Prey wasn't a bad game, it just didn't live up to the its potential and hype. That Prey 2 E3 demo was so obviously fishy.

Shit was the Halo 2 earth demo all over again Fools were talking about it like there was some great injustice done because it was canned. Shit was thrown in the bushes for a reason.

I need to get around to playing F.E.A.R. 1-3 sometime. I've got them sitting here but haven't actually started them up.

Max Payne scratched that Elevator Lobby itch for me in 1 and 2. So hopefully FEAR can match that.

What you forgot to say about Fear is that it is just ten hours of that same Matrix lobby scene over and over again, without even the setting changing.

I guess the gunplay of Fear is ok, but everything surrounding it is well....

Didn't play 2 or 3, but I have them.

I don't know what the best playing FPS is. I feel like Half Life 2 is the complete package. It's gunplay is pretty great, oh it dosen't have slow down and papers flying all over the place like Fear does. But when I played it I also did'nt think it was the most amazing thing ever. Parts of it are really boring actually. Episode 2 was good though.

Bulletstorm was great if only because I felt the desire to try do specific things with the guns.

Perfect Dark is one of my favorite games, but I don't think I could handle it today.

The atmosphere and grav gun were tight. The animations were on point. The gunplay was

Fucking nailed it.

I think Goldeneye on N64 probably has the best gunplay still. Even watching youtube videos you can see how satisfying it is to pump an enemy full of lead. The thumping sounds of bullets hitting bodies never gets old.

The death by nutshot animation is still unrivaled.

FEAR has the best gunplay and ragdolls, though.

If RAGE wasn't so bogged down with stupid bullshit then that game would have been amazing imo. If they hadn't slapped that terrible semi-open world and those equally as terrible driving sections into the game, then it would have been one of my favorites. Without a doubt. The games goes out of its way to stop you from enjoying the good parts of it. Such a shame.

2 was ok. It felt like a step back, but whatever. F3AR is an unprecedented level of hot dookie. Its ugly, shit gunplay, corny bro op element, no scares, just no redeeming features. if I didn't own it on DD I would have sold it

Halo had some fun guns but it was the AI and coop that made the games so good. Probably the best vehicle gameplay on any console shooter.

Honestly I think the Battlefield games did the best job of getting the feel and sound of guns right, makes everything else sound like a 80's action movie.
