Paleo thread is hilarious. GAFers stick to one diet in their lives and decide it's their god and science is wrong when in actuality it's the first time they've ever consciously thought about what they eat. "Follow the money" and its ilk are basically a dog whistle for the same kind of people who believe in things like BIG PHARMA and BIG FOOD. Might as well replace carbs with vaccines with those people, it's just as based in reality.

A few dermatologists being unable on their own to diagnose a condition and the bulk of research scientists finding evidence for one thing over another are completely different processes. The biggest problem with diet advice is that as a society we're trusting testimonial over mass evidence, and understandably so. Before/after pictures and celebrity advice is hard to ignore, especially when there are other people out there for whom these diets have worked.

But think of things from the opposite point of view: if you were someone who had tried dozens of diets and had nothing work, would the paleo diet, the fifteenth perhaps in a line of failures, be something you told all your friends about?
