The Great Gatsby is a great read IMO. I guess it helps that I didn't have to read it for school, did so by my own choice a few years ago.

I pretty much hated anything I had to read for a class in high school and/or college. Gatsby was an absolute chore in my AP English class, but then I read it on my own a few years ago and loved it.

Credit cards are really under-used in Europe. I don't have one and see no reason to own one, either. That said, if you need a lot of money fast a credit card is probably the best choice, at least in Germany. The overdraft on a checking account is a serious rip-off.

We've got a Delta American Express card, and we use it for absolutely everything we can to accrue miles. We also pay it off completely every month.

Some places don't take AmEx, and then we'll use our Wells Fargo debit card.

The stupid thing is that I have three different Visa cards. My original plan was to get one Visa, one MasterCard, and maybe an AmEx card so I would always have something that would be accepted.

My debit card is a Visa debit card, so I never have a problem. Some places run the debit card like a credit card, but the money is still directly withdrawn my checking account.

I can't think of anywhere that doesn't take Visa or Mastercard (as long as they accept cards). AmEx has higher transaction fees so some places don't take them. Discover has a terrible reputation and just doesn't have as big of a footprint as the others.

On the subject of Credit Cards, I didnt get one until about a year ago - I had zero credit at all, but my bank only let me get one through them because I was a customer for so long.

Not soon after receiving one, only did those annoying credit card offers start coming in. I feel like I'm someone again.

I use my credit card for big purchases like say my Xbox One and tv's.  Also, internet transactions.  If you get scammed it's easier to deal with your credit card company and get your money back than deal with your bank.  And most credit cards offer extended warranties for free on items if you purchase with your credit card.
