Man I really miss the 99-early 2000's era of gaming, what happened ?
I'm not really sure what words would be used to explain that era, would "arcade like" be one(but I'm guessing not since Onimsusha isn't an arcade like game)? The companies that are synonymous with that era to me is Capcom, SEGA, Square and Nintendo. Konami had some good shit too. Maybe "Japan" is the word I'm looking for? Japan has been MIA as of late. But man, games like Capcom vs SNK2, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Zone of the enders, Kingdom hearts, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy, Street fighter 3rd strike, Smash bros Melee ect. absolutely made that era for me. Since Japan is likely the word that I am look for. I'm hoping this mobile shit is just a fad and the that market collapses, causing them somehow to flock back to console gaming and start localizing their games more. I really miss that era.

Mortimer told me legit info before things were announced (PSO2 + BL2 Vita, GT6 being on PS3, PS4 requiring PS+ for multiplayer, etc), but he clearly loved the attention. Maybe his sources dried up, but he still wanted to feed, so he made shit up?

It's crazy that GAF of all forums has users that couldn't automatically tell the difference. The character model should kind of give it away. One has a tonne more polys than the other.

It took me an hour if my guess of PS4 over the PS3 shot is right. Mostly because I thought the face change was "launch period" wonkiness on the PS4. I can't tell the differences between the textures at that resolution and upclose.

In my defense I can notice texture differences except at that size. Polygons are pretty much blind to me since I'm generally focusing on other things in the shot than the models themselves.

Nothing will not change my view that this will be the most disastrous MMorpg post-Star Wars. I will not even spend a dime on that game. In fact someone would have to literally pay me to play it, actually fuck it I wouldn't even play it even if I got paid. OTs should not be reserved ahead of time, and there certainly shouldn't be any fenced off sandbox for OT creation.

On a side note, I always wondered why people bad-mouthed MGS4, but I only played through the first act and part of the second. Should I go back and finish it to get the full experience?

MGS2 had some interesting things going on in the story. I was disappointed in it at the time but there is some meta shit going on there.

When I was freshly 14 MGS2 was an odd thing to digest. I remember seriously contemplating whether I actually liked it or not. It was a lot like the Matrix sequels that came after, where I had to seperate the hype from my true feelings. The gameplay owned (though on replay last year I found it dated) and I liked some of the story bits but I was so fucking let down.

MGS4 suffered from Small Universe Syndrome, where everything important revolves around characters/concepts already introduced in the series. Prequels/sequels suffer from this because it allows the creators to shoe-horn popular characters from the series.

Skyrim's lack of depth isn't apparent immediately. I went through three major questlines before accepting that nothing I did meant shit. It didn't help that the writing was terrible and you were the chosen one in every fucking questline. The progression was fucked up too. You went from being a pissant to murdering the most powerful man in the realm in like five missions. Ended up really disliking it, and yes I spent a ton of time on it.
