The Japanese market is irrelevant, especially for MS. I'm more baffled by them apparently blowing Europe off.
The Japanese consumer may be irrelevant to them, but they sure as hell need Japanese developers else this thing will fall even harder into a pool of shit jelly than it is already looking to.
Nope.
Oscar is showing the hard data there, or at least giving a broad, real, data-based picture.
But even without that, can you name a Microsoft published 360 game which came anywhere near returning on its initial investment?
Japanese titles performed poorly overseas overall, and the 360 hardware in Japan can be represented in interpretive dance by flinging the dancer off the roof of the theater and into a pile of garbage. MS put a huge amount of effort into the launch, and Japan pissed all over it. It wouldn't surprise me if MS feels a little like pissing back.
