yeah, my (first year, not launch) PS2 had trouble with CDs after 6 or 7 years. Ended up buying a cheap slim to continue playing way of the samurai and stuff. Launch 360 lasted from 2005 to 2009, which sounds pretty lucky, tbh.
In fact, time for another edition of Fun Facts.
On the NA 360 top games list, the first Japanese game comes in at 49th place. It's RE5, natch. Capcom has two more in top 100, til our next Japanese publisher arrives in 106th place. That's SE, of course, with the obvious. Coming in next, at 131st, is Namco. Tecmo follows soon after. Sega, 173rd. Konami arrives at 437th place.
Of these publishers, Capcom appears the most and the highest, with about six games in the top 200. SEGA appears often but not very high, Namco appears about four times in the top 300, and the Eidos branch of SE also appears a few times in the top 300. Tecmo Koei has like three in the top 400. Konami, lol. Atlus? Lol, the only game they even had any minor success with was Catherine, which sold under 100k on Xbox and doesn't appear in the top 500.
MS doesn't need them. At most, Eidos (but not SE), Capcom, and maybe Namco would be worth courting, but they could definitely get by without the lot, no sweat.
Where would Metal Gear Solid 4 fall on that list, assuming PS3's list is similar to the 360's?
The only 'Japanese presence' at the reveal was Kojima for a second.
