I don't know how far I am, but I think I've done enough to be able to say something.
The game is just ok, but the reviews aren't crazy.
So a lot of the reviews mention the combat as being repetitive and well it is. You say "oh it's just Batman without the counter it can't be bad". But the thing is Batman feels very rhythmic in it's combat. So while there may not be much to your combos or whatever in that game, you're constantly in this rhythm of attacking and countering which requires some attention. Throw in different types of enemies and you have a new rhythm to your button presses. It keeps combat from being slog as things do feel very dynamic. The thing is so far Remember Me does not have this. It looks the same in video and the make a counter combat sounds cool. But in the end, it's just me doing the same few counters on the same enemies. Really so far there is no variety to enemies outside of one that requires a heavy attack thrown in. All I'm doing so far is a basic attack combo and one that allows me to heal(an interesting idea though, having combos do different bonuses). And so unlike Batman, the combat has gotten to be a slog. There hasn't been an enemy that requires me to dodge it's knife, avoid it's shock stick, deal with it's shield, or it's heavy armor all while countering regulars. That kind of thing leads to rhythmic button presses that keep you more involved, because that stuff happens dynamically. Instead of me going into combat and from the offset expecting to just do the same combos. It also doesn't help that combat situations are arena's basically, so the feeling of combat being a slog is even more repetitive, because you walking into a "room" and then the game goes "it's fighting time". That's unlike Batman, where you walk into somewhere and decide how you start the battle.
The platforming is straight Uncharted, but I haven't really seen a lot of the set piece "stuff is exploding" plat forming, which you kind of need for this to be ok.
As for the story? It's a cool world no doubt. The background stuff is at least interesting. I haven't got to anything too interesting yet. There's obviously more to it, with some big twist coming. I hope it isn't the obvious "your side is bad", which I feel like the game isn't being subtle about almost to the point where it's going to be more to it.
The game at least looks great here on PS3. The world and pretty much every section you are in is very cool. You want to look at every little area you are in, because the art design not only looks cool, but the technical design is also cool.
It's ok, but I mean so far it seems the reviews were pretty correct.
