You get a Gun/Ammo a little ways in. For now, there are just Gun "skills"

If you want to fuck with Guns and shoot niccas, focus on Dex.

I'm focusing on Dex, Mag, and Agi. I dump the occasional point in Str and Luc.

He did that in order to get the gun. 100 dex gets you the best gun in the game. I've dumped points into dex for a time too, but more evenly. My dex is at 60 and I'm level 25.

That's also not extreme. That's a perfect build.

St: 42
Dex: 18
Ma: 110
Ag: 88
Lu: 20

Only reason I have St so high is those items that give stat points. Otherwise just been pumping almost evenly into MA & AG since I'm a magic build and AG is for dodge/hit rate.

Yeah, that's not me. And it's not Dresden's either (since he has 70 magic). I'm still in Shinjuku, just finished the corpses' mission. Though, I did grind a but in that area with the firewall first when I didn't know where to go, seeing how the battles suddenly went from netting 300-500 XP to 5k or something (where Nues spawn).

I just made it to Shinjuku.

The guide isn't really helpful, mostly for the enemy weaknesses. It does tell you that some quests are a bit too high and suggests a level to approach them.

I think the lack of endurance/defense stat, and the fact that enemies home in your weaknesses is what'll fuck you up regardless of how strong your are or how weak they are. For example I'm almost level 28 and I can kill the harpies with one Phys attack. Three of them get the first hit on the world map, they exploit my force weakness with mazan, I'm dead.

I'm not sure if I hate that or love, since it'll always keep you on your toes regardless of your level.

I agree with that point. I'm glad I get warnings about bosses, so that I can I save and test drive the first fight. If I get wiped up by something that can be nullified then that's my only way of surviving the first hit the second time I try it. Worse bosses so far are ones who wipe me with just physicals. Like, instead of going to Shinjuku I went through the metro to the northern area (forgot the name, it's where the fire wall is) and tried my luck with the domain on the world map. I got raped with blights.

I'm having trouble beating the Terminal boss at Shinjuku. Dude just inverts my asshole. The guide says he's weak to status effects, but nothing is sticking.

You mean the Leopard? That guy is an asshole. The only way I defeated him was by casting debuffs, since he's obsessed with negating them and will always use Dekunda for his first turn. That's a good way to exploit that fight.

Stick with high powered magic and buffs. He goes down easy if you keep yer hp high.

I remember getting Mediarama earlier but I can't remember how. What's your MC level? I did almost every side quest that was available and I'm starting to feel too comfortable. Cranking Dex and whispering Blight to my MC was the best thing I did, but I'm starting to wonder if I'm overleveled.

I dont think you can be overleveled. The bullshit of the enemies attacking first usually means you get your asshole inverted. I dont even have to pay Charon because I just save every 10 minutes.

The world map needs something that shows what district is what. Having to guess the entire land to find a specific building in a specific region is distinguished mentally-challenged.

This coupled with the narrow walkways means unnecessary encounters with weaker enemies. Just a huge waste.

Also, everyone here bought auto-weakness-attacking-auto-battle and just presses L for 90% of normal battles, right? Takes care of your 2nd issue mentioned since battles are like 10 seconds. I only manually fight new enemies in each dungeon to figure out their weakpoints. Once I've fought all the new enemies in a dungeon I just use the L button and for all back-tracking, world map, questing I just use L.

After you buy attack-weakpoints-auto-battle, L is using elemental attacks auto battle to kill all enemies in 1 turn.

Yup! Go crazy.

The awesome thing about guns and bullets is that instead of having to worry about spells and skill slots you can buy Single-Hit, Multi, and All guns plus all kinds of elemental and ailment bullets then mix and match on the fly to adapt to any situation. The only drawback is that you can't change mid-battle so you have to come prepared.

Did guns work somewhat like this Soul Hackers?

Wow, you guys are crazy. No offense man, but auto-weakness battle is the biggest "new" big ticket item that SMTIV brings to the SMT series and the genre as a whole. That's why the magazines were making a big deal about the new addition before the game was released.

It completely changes how SMT games are played. It's like a whole different game where there's no grinding, no grunt battles, only survival battles and boss fights. Just totally different pacing. I couldn't imagine playing SMTIV without it.

Once you hit a decent level (~10 or so), it's pretty much the must have application that you need. Playing without it, is like playing without auto-mapping.

Well, the problem is that quests are like

"Go to the Ryokuji Dojo in the Shibadido district!"

Where the fuck is Shibadido district, and where the fuck is Ryokuji Dojo?

If it had just said "Hey, go to Ikebukuro" anywhere in the description I'd be like, ya ok cool.

Apps:

Integral ones to get:

- All skill slots (both you and demon)
- Skill Augment / Mutation
- A few stock slots for farming demons to moosh together
- MP Regeneration, so when you're dealing with annoying fucking regular enemies you can spam Javelin Rain or some other all-enemy attack
- Demon Negotiation (removes garbled text)
- Lower Fusion Cost from Compendium (very useful, since it "saves" your demon that had all those sweet skills, so you can bring it back, or fuse it)

My MEGA PRO TIP:

In the Cathedral of Souls, CHECK the box that says "Search Compendium" -- this means when you search for fusions, it takes into consideration any previously captured demons

They don't for a Dex build. Beefing it Dex up will not only increase guns' damage output, it also increase the potency of Phys/Gun skill almost twice as much as Str. So you get two for one.

My Blight and Javelin Rain have been one-shotting everyone for a while right now, so I'd rather invest the points in something with tangible benefits since I'm doing good on time.

The search function in the fusion app in this game is nothing short of revolutionary for the series. Not only can you do what you suggested (i.e. referring to the compendium and calculating prices), you can also: include and exclude demons, include new demons only, designate a target race, a target demon by name (anyone you fused or fought), a certain spell, and certain resistances. This is so crazy and time saving. Then you've got yourself the ability to sort, so when you have a long list of formulas and you're referring to the compendium, you can simply sort by price and pick the cheapest ingredients.
