It's pretty obvious that Neutral route is correct route. They do a great job telling you how much of a piece of shit you are on the other paths.

Yup. In a lot of SMTs every person in the world is a total asshole with an absolutely stupid philosophy. SMTIV so far is no exception. Usually the only satisfying solution is "fuck this bullshit, I'm gonna kill all ya crazy dictators and make this place decent myself"

DS1 is the only time I've chosen a side and that was cause Law was actually pretty chill in that one.

I went with law in 3. It just made the most sense. I went with law in SJ too. Smt 1 and 2 were neutral, DS1 was neutral.

Bad ending is actually not an "ending" - its more of a "oops, wrong choice" - if you select the correct choice it goes beyond that to the other paths.

So it is technically 3 playthroughs needed.

SOOOO... why would someone have said you need to select it to 100% the game? Does doing the bad end actually unlock or, um, do anything? Do you get to do a new game + after the bad end?

I don't know what "100%" the game is. But the bad ending IS an ending. It plays the credits, and you can actually save and start NG+

I'm saying that it's not really the correct ending, since selecting the correct choice continues the game.

I would prioritize demon skills, but in the end you want all of it maxed.

If you streetpass someoe who played Soul Hackers or SMT4, or EO4 (I think) you can actually get bonus APP points.

Honestly, you'll be fine. I beat the game at level 69, and I bought practically all the apps I needed. There are items that give you bonus 10 points as well, though they are few and far between.

Again, just focus on the important stuff

- Demon Skill+
- MC Skill+
- Compendium Discount (only useful if you fuse a lot)
- Skill Augment (random skills more often on level up, very useful)
- A few stock for some spare demons to fuse and capture
- MP Recovery (save this for last, but its super useful when handling small wimp groups)
- Demon Negotiation (removes garbled text)

All you unlock when you beat the game is "Extreme" difficulty, and the chance to do NG+ -- maybe some bonus bosses and such on NG+, I dont know

Cooool, beat the first major boss on the first go. May not be a huge feat but I did it using the skills I used from Persona and it works. Having strong demons for each elemental and a demon that can buff and debuff when needed. Lower defense then hammer in the elemental of choice until fucker is dead.

nevermind! figured out a strategy of bufu + various buffs which allowed me a bunch of turns and buffed my evade enough to avoid most his hits then debuffed him to the point where bufu basically destroys him.

Apparently one of the side quests initiated by demons (negotiation/scouting) grants you the ability to fly across the world map. Huh.

So I get a quest to kill 5 Calamity Hordes in Naraku. OK, so they are a bit difficult but I manage. I get attack first but they some how get first hit in the battle... lame... but ok. I kill the final one and I'm low on health. So what does the game do? Throws an enemy that's several levels higher and it also gets the first hit and takes out 2 of my guys.

I dunno, that's just completely unfair and not fun. How would I even be expected to deal with that on the first go?

I'm getting the feeling that you're not meant to win on the first go for the most part unless you get lucky. If that's just how the game is then I can't say if I'll end up seeing this to the end.

Also it's practically impossible to get a back attack in P3/4 so the tension is gone. SMT4 fixes a lot of problems the P3/P4 games had.

All the PS2 games got a reprint. So they dropped in price. That said, I believe the originals still fetch some value (Nocturne w/ Soundtrack, DDS w/ boxsleeve)

I thnk Devil Summoner Raidou didnt get a reprint, so those are still pretty pricey.

I've never gotten a "bad" end in an rpg. In a 5-6 hour game with replayability? Ok, not too pissed. At worst I'll youtube the other endings. But in a 40-50+ hour rpg that I will never replay again in my life? LOL

Rpgs should have multiple endings sure, but if they're a 30+ hour rpg then they should make no "good/bad" endings. Every ending should be satisfying just with different directions based upon the choices you took in the game. Like I feel SMT3 has a lot of endings that feel satisfying even if you don't go for the true demon one (which I don't even think was in the original SMT3 before the Director's Cut edition anyhow).

Hope I get Neutral in my first and only SMTIV run. If I don't or if Neutral has impossible bs on first play, gonna be annoyed for sure.

Then again I'll probably just youtube all the endings after I beat it like I did with SMT3, so eh, whatever.
