Why is this game so easy?
It started out being HARD, and toughest megaten since SMT3. But the last 10 hours or so (just reached Ginza) have been an absolute joke. Get to a boss fight, boss is weak to X element, have 4 person party with medium strength attack of that element, get 8 turns of hitting high damage weakpoint magic -> kill boss in 2 turns. Or fight non-weakpoint boss and hit with strong attacks x 3, and 4th character throws up a physical reflect shield. And normal encounters are super easy once you have party-hitting mid-level magic on everyone.
The only challenge anymore is when you get backattacked. Otherwise, this game has become easier than even P4 and is more of an adventure game I'm playing for the story and exploration.
What I don't get is early on EVERY MAJOR BOSS had like 3-4 "stages" to their fight. So you'd do X amount of damage, then have a conversation and then next stage where the boss would use new attacks and then repeat again. But after the first two bosses they just...dropped it? And even major story bosses now die in 2 turns of hitting weakpoints no problem. I WANT HARD BOSS FIGHTS IN THE MAIN STORY AGAIN.
Or they should let you choose a "hard" difficulty on your first run since the difficulty is changeable at anytime. Just give me a hard option and I'd be enjoying the battles/bosses again, probably. Strange Journey never got this easy.
Normally I don't complain about games being too easy, but half the fun in megaten games is being scared of each boss because oh fuck they're gonna kill you. And even be worried about normal encounters the first time you encounter new enemies and don't know their weaknesses and attacks. Also with the dungeons in SMTIV being "bite-sized" and your MC moving a lot quicker through them, the sense of dread and survival is really missing. What sucks is that this stuff was there early on in the game! But around lvl.25-30 party it just became FF1 GBA.
