We really need to put GET TESTED FOR SLEEP APNEA on the main page or in the newsfeed
Instead of "reach out to the truth!" the front page should read "get tested for sleep apnea!" but keep the pictures the exact same

it's probably not a good thing that everyone assumed you were seriously distinguished mentally-challenged rather than just reposting gaf.

I can accept that. VII is a mid tier FF.

Well, it's a double edged sword.  Probably wouldn't have gotten so many people to bite if she hadn't been having crazy moments lately, so there's that.

Sphere grid in regular FFX is basically FFIV/FFIX style play except you go to a game menu to level up and get your skills rather than going to the shop. In the regular game, it's very, very linear, and very, very boring. Both Digital Devil Saga games succeeded where FFX failed.

Positive: I'm not seeing how that's much of an improvement over the original's crappy grid, but people I trust say it's better.

Yeah I like that. Makes my characters go down set paths which makes them all unique and not interchangble like VII or VI where the equipment is basically key. Halfway through the game you can then start messing with them.

I like when characters have a specific role and party make up matters. I hate it when characters become the same like in XII.

My problem with the sphere grid is that I don't see the point to it. If you're going to have us follow a strict path until end game, what the fuck is the point? I like my characters to have roles as well, but FFX takes this to an extreme by making the roles too niche. The dog is ALWAYS for Tidus. The armored thing is ALWAYS for Auron. The flan is ALWAYS for Lulu.

FFIV and IX offer more variety in enemy encounters, and more interesting sub systems. If FFX didn't have a sphere grid, it'd still be the same result. Tidus would learn cheer with or without a sphere grid. The difference is, without the grid, you'd have to actually put EFFORT into your shop purchases rather than just click learn skill in the sphere grid.

FFVI and VII, characters are not wholly interchangeable, especially VI. The same is true for XII, and especially if we're talking about the International version. On the other hand, it's possible to make all the characters the same in X, so I'm not understanding why you defend the grid.

I like XII's grid more. When I play XII, I pick a strict path for guys to go, and I give each character a role that I create myself. Since Ashe is my mage, I'm not going to put her down the weapon path or the attack power path. I'm going to put her specifically on the path to learn new magick and wear light armor. I really like how XII allows you to do what the fuck ever, at any point in the game. I feel the same way about V and VIII. My favorites in the series are the ones that let you do anything, in your own way, in your own pace: XII, VIII, 1, V,  VI, and X-2. I think IV and IX are the exceptions to the rule for me, as I highly regard them despite their linear character progression.

Yeah I guess you have a choice, but that feels more like a handicap. It sounds like purpusley not using the LPs. Just by doing the story, you'll have almost enough points to unlock most of the important stuff. I mean I've made my characters try for specific roles but in the end it seems pretty pointless. I need my characters to heal or use magic for flying enemies or I guess telekeniss. And since they all have points for this stuff, might as well get it. Some sort of affinities thing would have worked. It's kind of there, as the one blonde girl I guess us better at magic, but the diffrence becomes pointless as the game goes on.

I like XII, but the character development seems pretty weak.

They could be construed as handicaps. But I don't think that takes away from the games ability to allow this freedom.

You're right, the character development in regular FFXII is flawed. But for me it works, and I like it more than the other options (X, XIII). Also, in XII, at least you have a choice. You don't have to teach Vaan fire if you don't want to. But you undoubtedly have to teach Tdius cheer and haste in order to continue through the sphere grid and gain "levels". For that reason, the game feels like it has a complete lack of choice, making the grid pointless unless you want to make every character the same.

I also think the license board in combination with gambits make for very, VERY customizable play.

I think Digital Devil Saga 2 offers the superior grid system, shame no one ever caught up to that.

well then thats your own damn fault. nobody made you get those upgrades except you. a player could have kept them strictly on a path where they learn only a certain type of magic (like i did), or you could have them learn everything (like you did). dont complain about lack of linearity when the game allows you to do it and you choose not too.

Whats the point of an rpg if well before the game even ends and without trying to grind your growth stops? Thats stupid. No, it is not my fault that I have to handicap myself(I'm not trying to make the game challenging) to make the game more fun. It's their fault for making a shitty system

Man it's so fun to stop learning things in XII before I even fight my 2nd Judge.
And if that's your idea of choice then that's terrible. Because XII's choices aren't "hey I want to take so and so down this path, I'll sacrifice these abilities and these will be permanent, but will work with what my party is doing". XII's choice is "well I'm going to chose to ignore this other stuff over here". That's lame.  That really just sounds like forcefully handicapping. There's no path of magic you went down, no you just ignored that the charter had the points to learn the other magic because you want the character to only do fire. But why?

The game gives you so much LP. An rpg where you chose to not use the points the game gives sounds dumb as fuck. Hell even something like White Knight Chronicles doesn't do that. Thats a game where you can go down any path you want straight from the beginning and you make actual choices that mold the character without you having to handicap it.

Basicly:

White Knight Chronicles > Final Fantasy XII

You're smoking crack

They actually redid textures to look nicer, when you consider the size/scope of this game and the sheer number of one-off assets, that's very surprising when you consider how cheap Square is nowadays

Also, THE ANIMATION DATA NO LONGER HAS THE WEIRD JIGGLE. On extreme closeups the characters would wiggle around like crazy due to a floating point accuracy limitation in their animation playback system. That is gone in the HD version, it's really cool that they fixed this.

That being said I think FFX is an awful turd but I'm sure Tiffany has her fans too
