the response is more divisive than most of these of these comic movies. the love side actually loves it, and the hate side seems to hate it more than returns.

I enjoyed it, and beyond that, they were successful in relaunching Superman after like 30 years of nonstarters. Nothing was so outwardly bad that it can't be remedied and it didn't kill Superman for another 7 years. That's why this Man of Steel 2 vs Batman is a bit of a bummer. Reward for making Superman viable again is a sequel where the attention will be on Batman. Best to hope for is an honest Iron Man 2 situation, where it's mostly a Superman movie with time devoted to Batman and teasing the upcoming super friends motion picture.

And I think internet people are slowly realizing that Affleck as an actor is worth it if it means he can fight off Goyer and Snyder, with nunchucks made from his oscars.

It was a well made movie. Not a very good movie, but it was well made. Singer got the details right.

I could never see Keaton as Batman. He's a decent Bruce Wayne I guess but he wasn't memorable as Batman. Bale's Batman is more memorable and his Bruce Wayne is absolutely stellar.

Clooney and Kilmer were doomed in bad films. I think both could have done better than Bale's Batman in the Nolan films. I'm obviously counting 90s Kilmer, not the overweight one of the aughts.

When I think about all the things that made Batman Forever bad...Kilmer doesn't cross my mind. He wasn't a bad Batman, and his Wayne wasn't bad either. Meanwhile Clooney was quite an asshole as Batman, but then again I often view Batman as an asshole. I'm not sure any Wayne displayed more swag than Clooney's either...because, well, Clooney.

Eh I really don't like Kilmer-Bats/Bruce. Just so vanilla and bland. I also don't find him very attractive which is kind of a prerequisite to being Bruce IMO (pause.)

Way agreed. Begins Bats was the most menacing one out of any of the live action movies. I also think the cowl might have helped, I find the Bale test shoot pretty laughable and it's mostly the cowl I think. Begins had a great cowl.

nah, sorry, his voice was distractingly goofy in BB too. a lot of it is because he can't enunciate his words correctly when he's trying to force that deep voice, so everything comes out like he's trying to push out a turd. i sometimes jokingly refer to him sounding like a muppet, but that's actually not accurate. the muppet VAs manage to maintain some element of normal cadence in their speech.

it should have taken exactly one line for everyone involved to realize Bale couldn't pull off a Conroy-type deep voice. if you can't do the voice, there's no shame in not doing it. just speak normally for christ's sake.

the Batman Begins game had everyone from the film reprising their roles, Kee-riminiy was Bale bad in that. And I have never played a more boring tutorial that had better line delivery then Liam Neeson walking you through the game mechanics, an appreciation of Liam Neeson that I would keep for many years until Taken 2 took a bit of the shine off of that apple.
