This post isn't wrong.

However, it doesn't get much further than that. It's written for an even younger audience than Faust's other series and it shows. PPG was way better, Foster's was way better.

The cult around the show is entirely undeserved (and when I say that, I mean in a "that 8 year old's cancer is entirely undeserved" kind of way), and would be perplexing to me if I hadn't realized the countercultural "fuck you if you don't accept us!" aspects a while ago.

So far I'm not seeing how it is any different in terms of content from PPG or say, Dexter? Back when PPG wasn't even a show yet and it was just a short on What A Cartoon Show, its content seemed about on par with what I'm watching now.

I've been watching Junichi Sato's post-Sailor Moon magical girl show, Ojamajo Doremi, which cranks up the cutesyness to 11:

I don't even think they fight anybody, they just use their magic for hilarious hijinks purposes like "Oh, the one girl's dad can't make it to Parent's Day at school because he has to work, so let's make a clone of him with magic! Surely this can't backfire in any way!"
