So I'm like half way through season 1.

I guess I could do a mini review. It takes the age old 22 minute cartoon block of each episode being a self contained subject and I think it rolls with it. Whereas most 22 minute cartoons of this nature tend to be separated into two halves, MLP does a great job by making each episode a whole. Characters stand out a lot this way. Honestly, the pony thing is the last thing I like about it. I mean, there's the occasional moment when it can be cute as fuck but it'd be just as cute if they were humans and I'd get the same enjoyment out of it.

I think the best thing I can say about Friendship Is Magic is how well written the secondary cast is. Typically in cartoons, they focus around a central cast of characters and the show never really goes beyond that, but MLP: FIM does a bit more than that, and reminds me of The Simpsons in a way. Much like how The Simpsons is about The Simpsons, but slowly expands towards the town of Springfield and its denizens, My Little Pony does a great job giving you a reason to care about the pony folk of Ponyville. It's well written for a kids show, and it definitely treats its audience with a modicum of respect.

The show continues to wow me visually. The animation is AAA and you can feel the love in it. There are some shots I'd re-do in a different way, that I think clash with the aesthetic, but it's still really good. Fucking Canadians, man. Great facial reactions in this fucking show. Honestly, I'm sitting here in the middle of a bunch of bullshit here. The haters look as stupid and moronic as the guys buying the toys and calling themselves "bronies" imo. Don't care, just wanna enjoy a fun cartoon and enjoy it for what it is and appreciate the craft of a storytelling medium I thoroughly enjoy.

TBH, I don't really hate any of them.  Pinkie takes things to an extreme too much, and Twilight really does just try too hard sometimes. 

There really are some GREAT Fluttershy moments in S2 and S3 (Putting Your Hoof Down, Hurricane Fluttershy, Keep Calm and Flutter On).  Being the kid that never really felt like he had a place in school, and always being rather shy, I get feels from the persona.  If you don't cry during Hurricane Fluttershy, I don't even wanna talk to you.

Being said, she's not my favorite.  RBD is, cause she's a boss.  Luna's probably my second favorite (you'll be seeing more of her if you haven't yet).

Applejack's my least favorite, though that's just probably because of the accent that I hear all day err day.  And Rarity's kind of a bitch.

Keep powering through.  A lot of people didn't like S2, because it took a little turn towards brony fanservice, but I thought that more pop culture references were fucking rad.  And S3 is a little left field, but still good. 


Just whatever you do, stay the FUCK AWAY from Equestria Girls.  It's not even that bad of a movie, but ponies humanized

Nah. Its not like himu would ever take something like a hobby or interest too far and turn it into a lifestyle.

I don't do this. I like to draw but I never call myself an artist, for instance. For some reason it annoys me when I am on facebook and some dude talks about how much of an artist he is and he only ever posts the same shit: random character sketch with no detail and no background.

And I like all sorts of music but don't make it a part of my identity like a punker or metal head or some shit. It is very possible to line something and not turn it into a piece of your identity. The whole brony movement bewilders me. I like anime and haven't been to an anime con in almost ten years. I stopped being interested in making things I like into important pieces of my identity when I was a teenager. Like, when I pre ordered GTAV at gamestop they gave me this lame-o poster and I told them to keep that shit. that is not going up anywhere in my house. At Diablo III launch I won this giant ass Diablo display stand and like, I immediately gave it to the dude who wanted it most. Keep that shit, breh.

My favorite part of that Wakfu shit is the lining. WOW. It almost nails the look of cel animation. The line work is particularly excellent when taken into the account that it's flash, which often has thick outlines and characters that stand out too much. Just fantastic work all around.

Is Sunny bad now? Last I really watched was... season 7? Which was amazing and probably my favorite season yet. Jersey Shore ep is my favorite ep, fat Mac was great, and part 1 of the finale was god-tier (part 2 was a letdown, though.)

Haven't seen s8 outside of the Wedding Massacre which was passable.

I haven't watched Sunny in a couple seasons- that show has largely lost it's appeal.  Every year they'll have one or two good episodes still, and when everybody I know that still watches is buzzing about an episode, I'll check that one out.

I just don't think the marginal drop off in Archer S4 is as big as you're making it out to be.

Sunny lost if its luster in season 4 maybe 5. Archer is similar for me. Sure, it isn't terrible. It is even good. But it is wholly inconsistent in quality compared to earlier seasons and some episodes flat out bug me where I'd have entire episodes where the best I could muster was chuckle. Shame because I love the earlier seasons. I may give season 5 a chance, who knows.
