Last season had one of the worst season finales I've seen, even worse than the last Game of Thrones finale.  Governor went out like a bitch, which trivialized him; even when he comes back I'll be like "meh." Where does this go now? Still getting attacked at the prison, people dying....meh.

The arc in season 2 where they're trying to find the little girl was the best thing in the show.

I'll continue to watch just because there's not a whole lot else on right now. it's definitely less palatable week to week. I thought S3 started strong and ended up about as bad as S2, but S3 was the first season I watched live. my expectations are pretty low at this point. forgot they have a new showrunner coming in though. maybe there is hope.

I liked that they told a singular story that was relevant to the group and didn't try to cram it into 1 or 2 episodes.

I'm still mad that my nicca Cutty didn't become Rick's right hand man. I thought they were going to be best buds :to

maybe S4 will change it.

Andrea :piss2

what a horrible character.

Spend weeks searching for a lost 8 year old girl during the zombie apocalypse,  brehs.

well the point is trying to retain their humanity and not giving up on someone just because it's inconvenient. it was a long-term storyline that had an emotionally satisfying payoff. shrug, they haven't had such a cohesive arc in the show since.

Best part of S3 was T-Dawg dying and nobody giving a shit :heh

I knew he was fucked when he started talking big. He was telling Rick how things were gonna go, planning shit out, etc...at that point I knew he was about to die. They spent like 5 minutes mourning Old Battered Wife Chick, meanwhile the guy who saved her damn life got no love  :lol

hopefully Michone is next.

console gamers sure love "protecting the defenseless little girl" tropes :heh

I thought that season dragged like hell. It was obvious zombies were in the barn, at least to me, and I assumed Sophia must be in there.

but more importantly, FUCK that season for killing my nicca Dale. Hershel is aite but I need Dale back in my life as the "old white guy kicking knowledge."

that is quite a feat

I don't think I've ever actually not read a comic because of the art... I didn't know there were people that were so shallow, lol. But then again there are people who refuse to watch black and white movies so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I guess I can't throw stones though, I didn't watch HxH until two weeks ago because of the bad character designs. :ufup

I don't read xkcd for the art, either.

Whatever Mr. Shallow.

Also the art isn't even bad. I don't even know how anyone could say it's "bad." It's readable, and even gets quite good around the time of the prison with detailed environments. You're just making excuses, mang.

Yeah, I just don't understand. Sorry.

How often do people say they don't understand someone else's perspective, when what they really mean is they have so much contempt for that perspective that they need to treat it as literally unbelievable?

Anyway, comics are a visual medium.  Ergo, the visual parts matter.  Otherwise they'd be books.

This is why comic book artist exists as a profession, why artists train and hone their craft, and why the choice of which penciller and inker to collaborate with is so deeply important to the writers.  If you want to treat the art in comic books (which are A SERIES OF PICTURES WITH WORDS ON THEM) as incidental, that's fine for you.  But criticizing other people as "shallow" for caring about the thing that makes a comic book a comic book?  C'mon.

S3 had more than a few good episodes but I agree Andrea sucked the life out of so much shit. I really liked the episode with the black buy from the pilot.

I've heard the Governor is a lot more maniacal in the comics, and Rick's group took some heavy losses. Anyone know if he'll be in S4? He went out like such a bitch at the end of S3, it's hard to see him being much of a threat now.

Season 3 was so bad I never watched it again after the break. :(

Season 3 was my first experience with this show and I got to ep 6 or 7 before I couldn't take it anymore. That whole plotline of the main cast vs the dystopian town was the most boring shit ever. I enjoyed watching the main group fucking around in that prison a lot more than all the other shit.

First episode was decent enough. Didn't like the Rick storyline so much, kinda played out predictably. The writing still has some awkward dialogue, but there was definitely some improvement.

I've given up on the show, and am re-reading the comics, starting with issue 1. It's my second re-read, and I'll be going up to the latest trade paperback.

I couldn't get over how freely and constantly the group was expending ammo.

I also had a hard time with Lori, but rereading the comic and she's just horrible there as well. She's bossy without understanding what she's demanding, and resentful and unsupportive. Hey, girl, you married an authority figure; why are you always trying to undermine him?

Lori gets better around the time she gets knocked up. And then after, well... she's out of the picture, lol.

The ammo thing bites them in the ass later on against Negan/Saviors and they get a lot smarter about it.

Impressions on my twitter feed were quite negative but I thought the episode was good. Some legit tension too, not just with the walkers falling through the roof but with that lady leading Rick to god knows where.

My girl Beth leveling up her will power on some X-COM shit :rejoice

Hershel: Hey Rick, these veggies won't grow in the shade. But if we cut off the sprouts and plant them, maybe that will work *plants sprout in the shade*

my brother thinks the antigen is being spread through air but it seemed obvious it was the water. His argument was that if it's water, everyone would be dead whereas if it's like TB it wouldn't necessarily kill everyone through the air. I don't think ALL the water is dirty, but I wonder about the cleanliness of the group. The first shot was Rick cleaning his face in some water; if other people have been doing that after killing walkers, maybe that's how it's spreading. Sort of like drinking water in a war zone, from a river with bodies in it.

Who cares why zombies work? Zombie fiction is rarely about zombies, it's finding out about human nature when the undead dookie hits the fan.

Monster Island was a great little novel about zombies, and even had a neat little twist on it, but then the author got really weird in the two sequels about following up on why his zombies work this way, and some historical metafiction to support it, and then really strained his ass trying to keep the characters interacting with each other until the end... it all felt forced. Druids? Mummies? Really?

In TWD comics, there has been just one basic nod to what I assume you're all seeing in the show:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
People die who haven't been bitten, and they turn anyway? It happens really early on in the comics, relates to something with Shane, actually, and then they just move on.
[close]
BECAUSE WHO CARES HOW ZOMBIES WORK? They're all screwed, it's just a matter of time, for all of them.

The Shane thing was saying they're all infected and will turn however they die anyways, same as the show (eventually) got around to saying (s2 finale.) What happened last night, with the guy being sick enough to die and then come back, is something new and not in the comics (as far as I can remember.)

Ah, he wasn't just sick with pneumonia or cancer or something, it's actually the zombie sickness, and no-one knows how he contracted it. Got it.

Yeah, that hasn't happened in the 16 volumes I've read so far.

Basically if a person drank zombie contaminated water, it's possible they could die correct? Like dying of a flu or virus. Not sure if it's a "Zombie Virus," it's probably just that zombies are fucking filthy and thus contamination can overwhelm a human immune system.

enjoying it so far but it mostly seems like the same old song and dance. the dialogue and character moments are still cringe-worthy as ever ("Used to be we all had acquaintances..." lolol). favorite part so far was when it was raining zombies in the premiere.

I hope Carol and Glenn are up next on the shit character chopping block.

I bet he's feeding the zombies rats too. He was the only person to learn of the infection and be completely unaccounted for throughout the rest of the episode.

Why not burn the walkers tho? They're gonna fuck that gate up very soon...

They have a doctor, farm dudes, Hershel kicking knowledge...but they couldn't find one crazy anti-government survivalist in the backwoods of Georgia who was familiar with pipe bombs n shit? Come on.

At least they aren't wasting ammo on the walkers at the gate. But still, one day they'll be stabbing walkers and that gate will fall on top of them...then they're all fucked.

Gasoline is valuable, but you don't need a whole lot to make a bomb. Plus, didn't The Governor have grenades and shit? Why not head back to Dingleberry and nab some.
