I was hoping the non-retina 15" ones would have a cut...but they axed them. 

I kinda want one to fuck around, but pricing is (as usual) totally outrageous. Two grand for 8GB mem, 256 GB (albeit fast) storage, and integrated graphics?

It's not terribly difficult to buy a sub-QHD laptops that gets uncomfortably close to $2,000 as well. And sure, no one has to buy any of these.

The 15'' base cMBP was what, $1449? Pay $50 more and get a 13'' rMBP @ 2.4/8/256.

Right now it's between the mid-tier 13" (really like portability and form factor) or a refurb top of the line 15" retina from earlier this year (slightly beefier proc although not haswell, 650M)...price not too much more and would give more options. I am not sure I like the bigger footprint though.

I think I may lose out on the iwork etc for free, but I can get a 10$ copy of office through work anyway so no biggie. I have no delusions about its gaming capability, but I also have a shitton of steamplay games in my library, and would be cool to at least run more than basic stuff.

Just not sure. not terribly worried about the fact that it's a refurb because it's under warranty and have a year to throw applecare on it lol.

The 13'' runs Iris, not Iris Pro, but the integrated option in the new rMBPs is making strides to close the gap between iGPU and low-end dGPU:

Comparing the 650M, not the new 750M, but it's a good look at the capabilities. Gaming, especially when AA is enabled, is the main difference (5-30% in favor of the dGPU), but Iris Pro still far outperforms it's predecessors.

yeah, rolling dice on gaming seems to be the deciding factor in which one I'm getting. The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning towards the 13"...I just don't really see myself even trying to game on it. also can save on taxes buying through amazon lol.

if the 13"/Iris can at least handle Civ V I think I'll be good.

the new ibooks in mavericks sucks a giant donkey cock....if you can help it dont import your books into it at all. they removed the ability to tag any metadata whatsofuckingever and if you add ebooks into ibooks after you do the full import you cannot get them to show up in itunes at all to sync with your ipad/iphone.

It's crazy how light it feels, the difference over the Mini is pretty negligible. They didn't knock off as much of the side bezel as I thought, so you can hold it without your thumbs looking like a big toe pressed all over the screen. Was THIS close to selling my Mini and paying the difference. My hypocrisy knows no bounds. Then I went on Daring Fireball, and reading a page of that smarmy cockslobbering helped the sensation pass.
