There's more interesting/imaginative stuff in the first five levels of this game than the entirety of the next gen launch lineup :(

You should be doing more than kicking yourself. SMG/2 are perfect.

You mean all the completely optional, easily-missed story parts?

Wait, Mario games have a story?

i think he's talking about this

i never understood what's the big deal other than nthing have a thing against cutscene and talky stuff because they are something associated with modern gaming (not saying ruzbeh is a nthing otherwise he wouldn't have said mario galaxy 2 is a boring expansion pack like follow up in the first place :heh)

That story was fucking gay as fuck.

I can't stand modern Nintendo, basically. Miyamoto-sama already contributed enough to Nintendo's output in the 80s and 90s that it's okay he kind of sucks now. The trouble is that we don't have a successor. I know some names, including the kisama who was responsible for the story video above but they're all terrible IMO.

This gives me hope for a good Wii U Zelda.  I finally finished Skyward Sword the day LBW came out.  Fuck motion controls.  Going from Skyward Sword straight into Link Between Worlds is like getting out of an old beat up Kia and into a new sleek BMW.

I wouldn't say it's better than Ocarina. 3D Zelda > 2D Zelda for me but I would say I put it over Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword and Wind Waker(and I love those three Zelda games). It's the best 2D one by a long shot IMO.

LTTP is almost as overrated as FF6, almost.
Hey man, the PSX FFs are the overrated ones. :P

FFVII, by virtue of practically everyone on the internet classifying it as overrated, is now no longer overrated. FFVIII is hated by 3/4's of the gaming community, and thus is not overrated. FFIX, undersold and was considered inferior to FFVII and VIII by virtue of its character design upon reveal, and post-release. For many, it's still a laughing stock, so it can't possibly be overrated.

The true most overrated FF is IV.

I'm not paid until Thursday, and the fact that even cynical posters are praising it is making my balls bluer than Earth viewed from Space

regarding 3DS Vs Wii U, I'd much rather they brought more of their A-game to Wii U. If both were as well provided for, there's no way I'd recommend a 3DS over a Wii U. Imagine this in a decent resolution on your TV! Sadly, I'd agree that all their good shit has been on 3DS (until 3D World anyway)

as awesome as it would be to see this game in 1080p on Wii U, it really does need to be in 3D.  It's the only 3DS game I've played all the way through with the 3D turned all the way up.  The 60 fps makes it look super slick.  Also most of the dungeons really do have a verticality to them that benefits from 3D.  I don't know if 3D is necessary for them but playing this game in 2D would be like playing it in B&W.

Saw a negative review that basically said since you can easily afford all the items early on, but since dungeons have to take into consideration that you may only have that "one" item required for the dungeon, that unlike past Zelda games where good dungeons would incorporate puzzles that made use of all the items you'd gained so far, that the dungeons are pretty simple in this one and all designed around a single item.  That the game is pretty simple from start to finish.

Any truth to that?

Eh, I don't think that's necessarily the case.  Thing is, a lot of the items can accomplish the same thing – just how you use them.  So for instance, I could use the arrow to stun enemies, hit some switches, etc...or, I could throw some bombs to island platforms where the switch is, and stun enemies that need stunned with the hammer.  The dungeons and puzzles are way more like LttP than any of the recent games' dungeons.

I will admit my strategy has been to rent them all, buy them as I can afford. Dunno about the necessity of multiple items, on my first dungeon in the dark world still. The puzzles are intricate enough to be interesting, even if dungeon revolve around one item.

Yeah I rented all of the items upfront.  Risky but if your a seasoned Zelda player you should have no problems.  I did die on one boss several times but luckily I had bought the item that I needed for him before I fought him...but honestly now that I think about it I could've beaten him without that item.

If you die and lose all the items, its not a big deal.  At that point you should have a fuckton of rupees to just go re-rent all of them again.

But you really shouldn't die.  This game makes players really need to prepare for dungeons and bosses by stocking up on fairies.  If you don't do that and you bitch and moan about dying and losing your items...

And the streetpass (swap pass?) shadow link thing sounds like it would be really cool if it worked over the internet  :-\

I just love that you can go from one dungeon to the next, and then to the NEXT one without having to go through a standard "arrive at area, observe conflict, backtrack to previous area, acquire an item, go back to first area, talk to NPCs, use item for something, DUNGEON TIME."  That shit in TP/SS takes like a fucking hour.  In ALBW I can beat a dungeon then immediately go to another one within 5 minutes  :obama

This game is just fucking tight.  I'd say my only complaint, really, is that I wish it was a longer  :'(  I wanted like ten more dungeons!

There should be an option to turn that shit off... a sort of health-warning disclaimer that you can agree to as a one-off. Something like

'In changing this setting, you agree that Nintendo Co. Ltd and its subsidiaries have no liability for any vision impairment, muscle spasms, muscle atrophy or increased likelihood of eyeball AIDS and heart failure that you may experience through long periods of uninterrupted gameplay.

AGREE  |  DECLINE'

My bank, after forcing me to lower my overdraft, have increased my credit card limit. Arseholes obviously want me spending money-I-don't-have where it profits them most... having said that. It means I *could* get Zelda today. And that worries me.
