The game just lectured me for playing too much and told me to take a break.

It does this even though you technically take a break if you close your 3DS. It's dumb. It's also standard for many 3DS games (dunno about WiiU)

wouldn't they just recycle the OOT remake one instead?

Yes, but the question posed was "would you want a remake of LTTP" - no, I would want them to make a new game with this top-down engine.

I'd play the shit out of a MM 3D cause I never beat the original. With some of the rough edges smoothed out it would be a ton of fun.

well it's different from most 3D zelda since the focus is more on the sidequest stuff which you solve by donning various mask and looping back in time, there are only 4 dungeon and they all rely on you turning into something else and gaining their power (so for example there is a water dungeon where you turn into a zora) so there's not a lot of dungeoning to do

but the sidequest are well done, there is a pretty long involved one where you reunite two lost lover and on the other side there is a lot of small stuff that involve racing and fetching and stuff like that... other than the focus on sidequesting and the morphing into other races gimmick it's really not much different from OOT

It's the best 3D Zelda, so yes. Yes it is.

Rough edges?

Majora's Mask is on the same level of Ocarina for me. The N64 Zeldas were amazing and brought out my inner special fellow.

I love it but it has aged a bit. Even with the RAM expansion pack it was still framey and on the pointy side. I'd love for it to have the texture rework and smoothing that Grezzo did on OOT3D.

Finally picked ALBW up yesterday -- I only played up to Lorule, so I've barley scratched the surface really -- the music so far is incredible. I found myself just standing in rooms just to make sure I'd heard every bit of each track so far..

This game is just fucking tight.  I'd say my only complaint, really, is that I wish it was a longer  :'(  I wanted like ten more dungeons!

I agree, but not ten more. Three or four would be perfect. I always felt like it was a bit rushed from announcement, I do find it funny that them rushing it is probably why it's the way it is and excluded some of the Zelda tropes we grew irritated by in the first place :lol

It actually wasn't really rushed though.  If you read the nintendo q and a thing, they have been working on it ever since ST ended development in 2009.  They had to restart development like 4 different times though.

Short, but sweet. I clocked in at 15:02 hours.

My ending screen tally was 1692 rupees and 3 deaths (one was against the final boss, one was against another boss, and one was just against some random mob). I had 18 heart containers at the end.

Finished it last night. It kinda felt like I was going through the motions, since I had all the items available to me. The world felt really small and restricted too. I dunno.

It was a decent Zelda, certainly better than the recent outputs....

:what

WW was the one that never needed an upgrade. TP could benefit MASSIVELY from HD. Go back and try to play it today. You'd cut your eye on a jaggy on the fucking start screen.

I shall start Majora on Virtual Console after the boyfriend goes home tomorrow.

The GameCube Twilight Princess needs an HD version.  Please let me play in the GameCube version of the world but widescreen (Link is left handed and the world is not mirrored/flipped).  Let me play with the gamepad just like WW HD (button to swing sword, right analog controls camera, optional analog stick or motion control for aiming).

I agree.  Robust options please!
They could even give you the option at the beginning of playing Link left-handed or right-handed (with the world flipped accordingly) and give you the option of playing with gamepad, pro controller, or waggle.

That would be the best option. Although considering TP's graphics would require more work to get right in HD I wouldn't get my hopes up...

Finished it and it's probably my GOTY, although strange considering it's a remixed LTTP.  It's shocking just how much it is LTTP, with a cool wall paining mechanic thrown in.  Minish Cap is more impressive for being a wholly original game of LTTP's quality.  And the briskness of LBW is refreshing after the last four or so Zeldas, but it loses some of its adventuring spirit, or something like that.  But but but the pacing works really well for a portable game.  My only real complaints are that renting items isn't limited enough and there isn't really a difficulty curve.

and I'll honestly be surprised if Nintendo doesn't release Majora's Mask 3DS next year.  LBW has tons of call backs to older games in pictures and stuff, but Majora's Mask is a 3D model hanging on Link's wall.  It's impossible to miss.

Majora's Mask (the item) makes a cameo in tons of Nintendo games, I wouldn't take it as indicative of anything unfortunately.

@BN I forget but I know it pops up every now and then.

Not being HD was the least of TP's problems.

Well, that applies to Wind Waker even more so. And WW's problems were even more obvious (cut content.)

All a Twilight Princess update needs is to gut the first 5 hours, provide a much larger wallet, entirely rework the economy and/or replace rupee rewards for something else.  I mean, if we discount an entire presentation overhaul.

Majora's Mask (the item) makes a cameo in tons of Nintendo games, I wouldn't take it as indicative of anything unfortunately.

I don't think it's ever been this overt.  And the timing is right.

I don't think its been in Smash other than a trophy in melee...animal crossing perhaps as a t-shirt design or something.  It's never been in any other zelda game, unless you count stupid fan theories that the Twili were the tribe that created majora's mask.

You have to get the shiny rock from the dude who flees back to town, but yeah, that wasn't a bad one

I beat this game the other day, and absolutely loved it - its a masterpiece. I enjoyed the different end credits scenes, but I wish they'd done that stuff before the credits and then orchestrated that amazing LTTP credits theme afterwards or something. The final dungeon's musical progression is one of the highlights of fucking everything that exists. Hummed away through the entire thing!

In hero mode, do the tunics still lower the attack damages by fractions? What's the impact on bosses? ie.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
can Yuganon one shot you, or is it a case of red tunic taking some brunt out of it? I had most boss patterns down, but there were a few I just kind of took lumps from while killing as fast as possible

I got this game. I'm tearing it up. Five more dungeons. Jesus. I haven't liked a Zelda since TP. I thought I was done. This is probably the best top down Zelda. I wish you didn't rent items though. I like the structure, but not finding items ruins the Zelda allure. It feels great when you uncover items to solve puzzles. This game puts it in the right direction though. Next Zelda needs to be Zelda 1ish in that you have to find items in the over world.

This game does it right in that it doesn't hold your hand and you can tackle dungeons in your own order, though. I think, combined, it'd make for some an good Zelda. On one hand, I love that dungeons don't have stupid dungeon items, but on the other hand, every dungeon is specific for certain items. I rented put all of Ravio's shit and most of my items have been sitting in my inventory the whole game. Each dungeon is divided by item. You've got the hook shot dungeon, the wind thing dungeon, the bow dungeon;etc and these dungeons rarely fully utilize your entire item set despite the fact it is nearly impossible to NOT rent out every item.

Still, it is on the right track and these are ultimately just nitpicks. Excited for the next 3d Zelda now. May get a wii ooooo for it.
