Over much of the country it is a cold and icy winter's night perfect for making a cocktail and
regretting everything in your life getting comfortable in a big chair. Tonight's cocktail is the
Merry Widow. I've seen a lot of variations on this complex and stout (it is winter after all) cocktail but here's what I settled with:

You'll need:
- 2 oz. high proof dry gin (for that classic feel)
- 1.5 oz. Dubonnet (this is key but in a pinch sweet vermouth will do)
- 1 oz. dry vermouth
- Dash of Angostura bitters
And of course a jigger, and shaker.
Mix the ingredients like you're manhandling a shakeweight in a shaker with ice. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with an orange twist. Enjoy!

Anyone else drinking anything interesting tonight?
