Seriously, it's right at the start of Arbiter's Grounds, although I didn't bother doing any side quests or heart piece hunting up to that point. The world's all opened up, though, by and large, and it's a sexy streamlined rush to the end at that point.

White Man, I think you should understand most of the hate didn't come necessarily from the style of WW, but rather due to how Link looked. The art design for the environments and animation were excellent.

Having said that, I disagree in that the realistic thing was a bad idea. The problem actually is that TP suffers from extremely awkward art direction. (Why the fuck are the colors so washed out and muddy?) OoT seemed much more vibrant to me. And Nintendo needs to hire people that know how to texture map properly.

There are still some nice parts, though. I thought Lakebed Temple, the Temple of Time, The Sky temple, and the Palace of Twilight looked great.

The image quality is crap, and the game's aesthetics are largely ugly.  It's not a very pleasant game to look at.  I think the (lack of) colors is the problem.  The colors that are present are usually dampened.  The game looks like someone took a dump in a bowl of pea soup, color-wise.

Disposable White Guy and I played the training stage of Gears of War, and got so fed up we went immediately back to watching me antagonize people on XBL whilst playing R6: Vegas.

We actually put the XBL chat through the speakers so he and my other friend can hear it, and my goal is to get people so worked up.  It's hysterical.  I'll only pick on you if you're being distinguished mentally-challenged.  Our first match, the guy running it was some imbred redneck jerk and in the lobby, I would make fun of him and then mute real quick.  He couldn't figure out who it was and demanded that the person step forward, so some innocent bystander claimed he was me so that he'd start the match.  Then he launched into some crazed verbal tirade about how he's not a redneck and rich and fucks his sister and wears a straw hat.

The second match was better.  I hate it when people call other people "gay" or something "gay".  Like, "That was totally gay."  So I totally egged this guy, calling him out as a homosexual that gets off on big erections and I continued in a very graphic, homoerotic manner.  He lost it.  He started yelling, and his voice was cracking and was like, "I'M GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU YOU HERE ME taco I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!"  He went insane.

XBL is hilarious.

I played Lost Planet at Best Buy the other day...it was pretty awesome, but the control scheme was a bit distinguished mentally-challenged. I didn't bother to check options to change it, so maybe it can be made to seem somewhat logical.

There was enough bitching beforehand to go around, and by the time the game was released, Nintendo would've already been knee deep in designing the next.  Nintendo fans are the reason we got the shitty shitty art of TP.

You said that Nintendo fans liked the spaceworld demo, which would make sense because that looked pretty awesome at the time and they would want to brag about it.  But there is no proof that THEY were the first ones to automatically write off the game because of it's unique art style.  Most might have been worried that there was sailing, or no ocarina, but the art would not matter too much to a true fan if they haven't even played the game yet.

Judging from Denise's game in TP though it seems like it gets better/more interesting...........    but the first half that I never gave much time bored the hell out of me and I haven't touched it for like a week and a half.

Funny thing is Nintendo could have avoided most of the shitflinging if they didn't make Link a mutated Powerpuff Girl reject.


Anyhoo, after contemplating a bit more, I'm further convinced that I still don't think WW's style SHOULD be the de facto Zelda style. For the Wii's limited power, yeah I think that's the path Nintendo should follow. However, done right, a more powerful Ocarina style would be far more perfect. This may be just me, but take something like WW's water. It looks nice and all, but I'm not really that big a fan of one texture spread throughout a huge space. Something like this water looks much better imo.




That's just one thing, of course. Hell, at this point I think I'd be even happy to see something like Starfox Adventures. Seeing Mario Galaxy in 60fps gives me some hope, and a Zelda game with that frame rate (with hopefully better art direction) would be tits.
