Fallout games removed from GOG store

Rights gone to Bethesda. They're still in your GOG library if you got them before. Still on Steam for $5 for now.

I can see Bethesda either remastering these for rerelease in the future, or doing iOS/Android versions.

I guess giving the Fallout games away for free on GoG was Interplay's last parting shot at Bethesda. :lol

If I've purchased them, but not downloaded them yet, am I screwed? What about future computers on which I may want to download them?

You're good, the games are still in your library. GOG doesn't lock you to one PC, it's all account based and DRM-free.

I wish I would have played the Fallout games when they first came out, by the time I got to them (2004ish), their gameplay issues were so annoying that it really ruined a lot of the fun for me.

I beat FO1 and only got about 30 percent of the way through FO2.

Eh, the gameplay is still fine if you're a D&D nerd (since it was supposed to be originally GURPS which is kinda an off-shoot but not really an off-shoot of D20), it's more the fact the graphics have aged badly plus taking forever to get the plot going.

My biggest issue with the game (aside from UI and some of the graphics) was the way NPC's were handled. You couldn't manipulate their inventory and they often did dumb shit. You could even get trapped by them in corners and have to reload from a previous save.

Later in the game, their help is neglible, but early on when one missed shot often meant the difference between life or death, it was infuriating.

It was better in FO2, but the story wasn't as good.

What do you mean by manipulating the NPC inventory? AFAIK you could pickpocket them and stick a grenade on them, just like you can in Nu-Fallout/3-NV-4. You could also steal from them if your stealth was high to where they didn't detect it, IIRC.

NPC party members, I think he meant.

Games have been de-listed from Steam as well, but the publisher has been updated to "Bethesda Game Studios" in the database, so it's probably only a matter of time before it's back up.

Their current priority is to get them back on Steam, no word on GOG yet. Maybe they aren't keen on DRM-free versions.

It's Beth, of course they aren't. Why do you think Fallout 3-NV hasn't been released on GoG?  :lol

I figured they were still too recent for them to even consider that.

Quote
The d20 System is a role-playing game system published in 2000 by Wizards of the Coast originally developed for the third edition of Dungeons & Dragons.[1] The system is named after the iconic 20-sided dice which are central to the core mechanics of many actions in the game.

The Generic Universal RolePlaying System, or GURPS, is a tabletop role-playing game system designed to allow for play in any game setting. It was created by Steve Jackson Games and first published in 1986 at a time when most such systems were story- or genre-specific.

d20/Dungeons and Dragons is older, dude.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeons_%26_Dragons

Quote from: Wikipedia
Dungeons & Dragons (abbreviated as D&D[2] or DnD) is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game (RPG) originally designed by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, and first published in 1974 by Tactical Studies Rules, Inc. (TSR). The game has been published by Wizards of the Coast since 1997. It was derived from miniature wargames with a variation of the Chainmail game serving as the initial rule system.[3] D&D's publication is widely regarded as the beginning of modern role-playing games and the role-playing game industry.[4]

Wizards changed the entire systems to 20-sided dice/d20 if it wasn't d20 before, IIRC. In recent years, they call this system "d20" over "Dungeons and Dragons" because they have "d20 Modern" which is/was their attempt at doing "wargaming" role-playing.

You said "d20" and now you're saying "D&D" - I know which is which, so nya-nyahhhh.

Anyone who namechecks GURPS is A-OK in my book, so it's all good, homeslice. I was just being pedantic.
