I want to give dark souls 2 a chance. I want to. Have they made any changes to make it more fun or is it the same stuff?

I saw some hardcore DS fans on GAF say it's been casualized/CoDified or something and they were bitching about it, so yes, it probably is funner.

My problem isn't making it easier. We were talking about this in the what are you playing thread, but I don't like how in Dark Souls or Demon's Souls, each level has the enemies in the same places, doing the same movements. Once you master them, it's pretty easy. But if you die and do it all over again, you're not really learning anything. It's not a structure I like or enjoy for a 40-50 hour game. For something like Mega Man which has 3-5 minute levels, sure. But not for a giant action adventure title. I prefer hard games like Spelunky where, even after I've mastered them, I can still get fucked up, because I got cocky and didn't watch the ceiling and got attacked by a hidden spider or I jumped too far and got impaled or I tried to take on a wasp queen and got fucked up. The random nature makes things unpredictable even after you've learned how to combat the game.

If Dark Souls II has something that makes the games less repetitive, I'd like to give it a try. I like the idea of Souls games, but the execution...seems like I'd have more fun with Dragon's Dogma instead. That said, I'd like to join in with the Dark Souls II people because they're an active and healhty community that helps each other out but the game, I just don't know.

Himuro, that is exactly why I did not bother with Dark Souls after DeS. I greatly enjoyed my time with Demon's Souls, but the Souls formula is just not something I want to experience again for a very long time.

There are reportedly more bonfires from which to spawn from, and you can warp from the start of the game. These two things will probably remove a lot of padding that you found in the first game.

I used to agree with you himuro, but then I made a bad ass mage and didnt have to replay squat

Also in demon souls nothing is further then a 3/5 minute run I think

Im hesitant to move to DS because its open world

3/5 minute run sounds about right, as long as you don't mistakenly skip a bonfire (some are rather well hidden)

Dark Souls II for PC will have four times higher graphic resolution and will run at 60 frames per second, says Bandai Namco. From Software has been working on adapting the controls for mouse and keyboard players.

I refuse to ever play as a mage in a game that has no party. Mages are lame as fuck. Hey look at me, with my long ass stick! I totally don't use it for anal play! Loser.  Swords and bows or go home.

When did it ever win?

What about a battlemage? Mace in one hand, fire shooting out of the other.

Himuro why not run around with an enchanted sword, there arent even staffs on demon souls.

You should really play demon souls, it has a nice level structure.

Pretty sure you can already do this in DS?

I dunno, I never played DS, haha. I was thinking of how cool it is in Skyrim to shoot ice bolts into mofos and then run up and decapitate them.

Just confirmed. You can use a 'wand' in one hand and a weapon in the other. You just can't be using them at the same time because of the way animation is done.
