I don't have an Amiga
How are the SNES Turrican games though? Those are something I'd play anyways... 2D run and gun action games with awesome music?
of course you don't have an amiga,it's 2014! nobody owns an amiga anymore except people that also own weird museum or something... but you know what you own? a pc that can run
WinUAE without problem and as an added bonus you won't have to deal with the shitty loading times and the constant disc swapping
that said i never played the snes turrican games but they are completly different games... but turrican 2 has all of the run and gun and awesome music you want, i also picked apidya because it's another pretty kick-ass shooter full of weird boss fight (if you watch the video there is a whole bit where you fight a freaking trout and a fight against a rat carcass)
gobliins 2 is a point & click adventure and is part from a trilogy of point & click adventure's, i like 2 the most because of it's music and the background which are... well...

i don't think i ever played a graphic adventure more fucked up than gobliins 2 and there are tons of adventure games on amiga (though most of them are also on DOS)
other amiga games that i think are worth a mention
-
Robocod is another sidescroller where you play this crabbie thingie with the ability to extend and attach himself to cling on the ceiling on a mission to rescue santa claus, there is a stage where you fly inside a bathtube and that's all i have to say
-
Wizkid everything about this game is fucked up,everything... the game is divided in 2 part basicaly... at the start of each level you play as a disembodied head and you have to push blocks toward cute creature like butterfly and penguins which die in horrible splatters, after doing this for a while you gain a body and the adventure part begin, the adventure parts are completly random, often trick you into do the wrong thing and sometimes are just plain absurd (
like this level where a woman bark in time with the music)
- the amiga had a really shitty port of street fighter 2 which is the reason why i think this game happened,
Shadow Fighter is a decent one-on-one fighting game with a somewhat big and diverse cast including a cop that looks like it just came out from a YMCA video,a genie,a midget clone of ryu and mostly important a basketball player called slamdunk that shoots fire(basket)balls so that you can actualy pretend that you are playing shaq-fu 2... one curiosity about this game is that it was made by a studio called NAPS team which as far as i know it's the only existing italian videogame developer, they later developed a 3D fighting game on psx known as
Gekido-
Moonstone is a game that i think would do really well if it was resurrected for the modern era, 4 knight go on a quest to find some magical talisman and they get to murder tons of monster in the most gorish way possible, my favourite is the swamp one who pops out of the field with a high pitched piano tone like some cheap horror monster... as a bonus point you can also be a dick to the other player and steal all of their stuff
-
North & South is basicaly a strategy game but when it comes to actual battle you order your troop like in an action game which make for a weird mix (especialy when you decide to assault a train in which case the game turns completly into a 2D sidescrollers) the game was remembered well enough to get a shitty redone version for ios years later
- arcade conversion were common enough on amiga, stuff like
Rodland,
Dynamite Dux,
this james bond inspired game here and mostly important a lot of taito games like bubble bobble, rainbow island and a decent version of the less known
Parasol Stars-
Cannon Fodder is basicaly a top-down shooter made somewhat hard and annoying by the fact that everything (including your own soldiers) die in one hit,one nice touch is that if some of your soldiers die,you can still clear the mission but the dead soldier are replaced by new recruit and the dead soldier buried in this giant hill after a very cinematic roll call so if you let one of your guys die you'll have to bear it FOREVER
- bitmap brothers was a pretty prolific developer on amiga, making game like
Magic Pocket and
Gods but their most famous game (which in fact i think there is some redone version on steam) it's
Speed Ball 2 a futuristic sport game that's sort of like soccer and american football together... there is a pretty big league mode where you use the money you win to power your player through cyber implant and like but the best part is that you can punch the shit out of the other player until they leave the game,is the goal keeper annoying you too much? punch the shit out of him!
- these days team 17 is probably know as "the guys who did worms" but back in the day they too worked on amiga, and made a nice platformer known as
SUPERFROGGGGGGGGGGGGGG it's a really nice sonic wannabe game (some cheap death though...) one annoying gimmick is that the game is password based but the only way to get the password in a stage is to win it in a slot machine game, that basicaly means that if you are unlucky you are potentialy screwed into losing your hard earned progress
- CORE was another developer that released tons of sidescrollers, like
Premiere in which you play as a guy as he traverse diverse style of movie's while trying to gather back some movie clips
-
Battle Chess is just chess but with animation everytime a piece get eaten,
they even made a star wars version in case you want to see a stormtrooper actualy hitting stuff-
Pinball Fantasies is one of the most famous pinball game i know off, they even got a PSP port
-
Ruff'n Tumble is another nice shooty side-scrollers
-
Lemmings should be pretty well known but there were a lot of lemmings game on the amiga, this one is my favourite as it's the one with the most gadget, lesser strict requirement and more variety
-
Pushover is a puzzle game about creating domino effect,it looks simple enough but as you keep playing domino that split, don't fall or bounce the chain gets added which makes thing more complicated as it goes on and on and on...
-
Dune is a game that mix adventure element with strategy element inspired by the same old-ass movie with the same name, later on they also created a sequel which was one of the first (if not the first) RTS game to be created
-
The Lost Vikings is a game made by blizzard before they became blizzard, you play as 3 viking, one viking can jump, one has a shield to protect from attack and the other has a sword to punch stuff and you have to switch between them to make it through the stage
-
Captain Blood is another to chalk in the "weird games" section, back when i was a kid i had no idea how this game worked but thanks to the internet now i know! basicaly the gist is that you have to explore the galaxy, find 7 replicant aliens and murder the shit out of them, problem is you don't know where the alien are so you have to land on planet's and then speak with the resident's there using this weird symbol interface to discover where the replicant are hidden
-
Flood is another sidescroller, this is one of the earliest game bullfrog has done
