Today I saw a car with English (not the UK) and Danish flag stickers on the bumper and I don't think the owner(s) realized the sick inverse effect they had going on there.

cant wait to see USA knocked out. That will make my year.

It'll be really embarrassing if we get knocked out by losing to teams like Portugal and Germany. It'll truly prove European dominance over us, the North American powerhouse of soccer. Losses like that are something that you just don't live down. Oh wait.

on vacation because they couldn't beat Germany and Portugal. Nothing to be ashamed of. Let's see if the US can beat Germany and Portugal  :lol

So, it's okay to be a crappy team that loses to superior European squads so long as you're also a European team, I guess.

Lots of euros like the usa team.

I still remember that game where you were cheated against brazil.

I don't really hate anyone, just like seeing the big teams get surprisingly slaughtered.

I went to a World Cup 1994 game and enjoyed it, but I didn't become a real fan until 1998 when I volunteered on a Kibbutz in Israel with a ton of Europeans and watched every game. What a summer that was.

Had discussion on my facebook the other day with Canadian friend who called USA assholes in this tournament and I was so confused. Like, Mexico is our rival and I'm still cheering for them against Brazil. People just love to hate America I guess.

cant cheer for hypocrite americans when they only tune in for football every 4th year or so. I also hate the word soccer.

I shouldn't give you the time of day because let's face it, you're really dumb, but soccer now has higher attendance in America than hockey, baseball, and basketball.  It's getting really fucking popular here.  Also, soccer, soccer, soccer.

first game i went to was in 86 - Carlisle vs Leicester City - Linaker scored the winner for City. I would have been 11.

I should jot down which games i went to - i'd guess its in the region of close to 200 games total. Also want to do the same for gigs, but hey.

K.

I'm going to give you real talk.

We do not have a soccer culture in America. The sport elsewhere has 100 year history. We have a long history dating back to the 20's but it's never really constant, until recently, with the 1994 World Cup and MLS. Now, since we don't have a soccer culture, most peoples exposure to the sport in America is through youth minor leagues and the World Cup. You keep talking about bandwagon American fans, when nothing makes more American fans of soccer than the World Cup. I'm going to make a shot in the dark and say not even minor leagues because most of those kids move on to other sports as they get older.

Since World Cup 2010, soccer has gotten tremendously popular especially domestically, and since we have an ever growing hispanic population, it wi get even MORE popular. No one bandwagoning at all, and your American coworker is a moron. NBC and other tv companies just did a legendary tv deal for MLS for instance. Bububu no one cares about soccer in USA.

You do realize that, until recently, how rare and hard it was to watch actual professional soccer regularly on American TV, right? I mean, World Cup aside (AGAIN THIS IS WHY IT IS A BIG DEAL).

How do you expect kids to want to grow up to be a pro soccer player if they only see them on tv every four years? With the recent popularity of the sport - especially the European side, I expect this to change. Soccer will probably never be the top sport in America. But I definitely see it being bigger than other sports, and it is growing. The World Cup opener for instance, had more viewers than the Stanley Cup Final.

I mean seriously, you're posting on an offshoot video game forum about how American kids don't dream so big. It's extremely entertaining how you are so consumed by this when everyone else is just trying to enjoy the game.
