It's weird because most Europeans cheer for America and our fledgling football skills. Thanks euro guys that are not named Tales of Win
Had discussion on my facebook the other day with Canadian friend who called USA assholes in this tournament and I was so confused. Like, Mexico is our rival and I'm still cheering for them against Brazil. People just love to hate America I guess.
cant cheer for hypocrite americans when they only tune in for football every 4th year or so. I also hate the word soccer.
As I said before, many of us "bandwagon Americans" in this thread post about soccer when club football is in. I have never seen you in a single soccer thread prior to this, bitching about American fans. Where were you when we were gabbing about the EPL final, the champion league final, la Liga final, and FA cup final a month ago?
maybe because i dont post often on this forum? I posted plenty at neogaf at alternate account.
K.
I'm going to give you real talk.
We do not have a soccer culture in America. The sport elsewhere has 100 year history. We have a long history dating back to the 20's but it's never really constant, until recently, with the 1994 World Cup and MLS. Now, since we don't have a soccer culture, most peoples exposure to the sport in America is through youth minor leagues and the World Cup. You keep talking about bandwagon American fans, when nothing makes more American fans of soccer than the World Cup. I'm going to make a shot in the dark and say not even minor leagues because most of those kids move on to other sports as they get older.
Since World Cup 2010, soccer has gotten tremendously popular especially domestically, and since we have an ever growing hispanic population, it wi get even MORE popular. No one bandwagoning at all, and your American coworker is a moron. NBC and other tv companies just did a legendary tv deal for MLS for instance. Bububu no one cares about soccer in USA.
