Fuckin nintendofegs

Who treats open-world games with cynicism - Farcry 3/4, Skyrim, GTAV, Saint's Row 3/4, Batman: Arkham Knight, Crackdown 3, Infamout: Second Son, Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed series - besides the voices in your head? Many Zelda fans have been clamoring for this for years, and many had hoped that it was what Skyward Sword was, what, with its apparent emphasis in not in being able to tell dungeons from world exploration apart. Nintendo fans have been fairly consistent with this issue, and Zelda fans especially, have been wishing for this to happen for a long time, in order to have the adventurer spirit of the original rather than the linear, coddled structure in recent titles.

Seriously. In all facets, your post is incorrect.

Love the art but you *know* the Zelda team isn't going to be able to pull this thing together properly.

Yup.  I have zero faith Nintendo can pull off a wrpg or even Xenoblade system open-world traversal HD game.  Will have it's good parts and be ultimately flawed and tedious just like every console Zelda for the last 10 years.  I'll give it a shot.

Fuck it, I hyped.  Skyward Sword's dungeons were great and I loved the sidequests.  ALBW toyed with this open world/any dungeon order idea on a minuscule scale and did very well with it.

The biggest concern I have is what they're actually doing with controls and combat, and difficulty level.

Ah, I don't agree with that.  I think Skyview, Mining Facility, Cistern, and Sandship were all really fun.  TP's dungeons were better overall but I liked that each dungeon had a unique attribute to them.  Sandship's timeshift stones especially.

I wasn't talking about story tropes because then we might dismiss all games.

I was referring to the fact that even this short trailer already looked like its settling in to gameplay known since 1998 in Zelda.

You can almost hear some annoying critter popping up every 10 min to tell you how to travel through the world, or that you can only hold 100 rupees.

when naughty dog tells this one, it usually sticks, at least as far as they're concerned.  they walked away from crash and jak, both of which sold about as well, can't see why they won't walk away from this one when they've already got their next one lined up.

For some reason I thought U3 was supposed to be the last one, they made a new IP after and everything. Until then ND's schtick had been to make an IP at the start of a console's life and make a couple sequels until the next gen hits and start over. Going back to Uncharted is a weird move to me, even if it is to "finish" it off.

the lack of unkarted clearly threw everything out of whack.  but seriously, what with uncharted not being a mega-hit seller beyond their usual, ND's typical MO, and the fact that the uncharted series' creative leads all left, i have no trouble believing this is it for the franchise and ND at the very least.

Unkarted?

Uncharted seems to be the only thing Sony has that can drum up serious hype, from where I stand. It's their prestige franchise.

I guess TLOU could take its place if they start doing sequels to that.

if hype doesn't translate into sales, it's not worth much.  last of us got just as much if not more critical praise, and it sold better than any of the uncharted games to boot.

So why are we getting U4 and not TLOU2?
