God, Momo and Rah's opinion on gundam are so so bad
What? How?
You don't even know my opinion. My opinion is that MS Gundam is the best one, but Origin is actually the best telling of that story. Zeta Gundam was too hyped and when I finally got the big first boxset it's flaws were a bit more apparent. Poor pacing, shitty characters like Roseamia, and too many plotlines that aren't actually focused means it's a weaker show then most. It's ok, but hardly this classic it was preached about before most could see it. This is also not even a controversial opinion.
ZZ kind of is garbage. CCA is a fun movie. F91 is pretty bad. 0083 is awful in everything but animation, art design, and mech design. Quite honestly if you think 0083 is good, well you're the one with shitty opinions. 08th MS Team is ok, but the 2nd half is less good. 0080 is really good. Unicorn is what it is, an epilogue story.
G Gundam is super awesome. Wing is the most hilarious Gundam show ever made. X is decent. Turn A is pretty good, but I do think a bit overhyped. Seed is a guilty pleasure because of how teen angsty and dramatic it is. Seed Destiny is crap, but the first half was ok. Same for 00 really. Age is honestly the worst Gundam tv show ever made.
But saying Macross > Gundam instantly files you in "lol don't take seriously" in my head
Please as someone who's seen pretty much every Gundam animation(even that shit Last Bits of Zeon that was on the Zune marketplace for some reason) and use to read every translated Gundam manga this is hardly silly. Macross is really good. Because as I've gotten older a lot of Gundam does not hold up. Zeta the supposed best is kind of bad. 0083's fantastic visuals and action don't really hide it's shitty story and characters that it takes seriously anymore. CCA is cold and un-fun.
But Macross gets better. Macross and Macross 7 are super fun. Dude goes around shooting music missiles at people. Plus is still pretty amazing. It's got crap like Zero, 2, and F(made better in the movies) but I'd watch the original series again before any of the other 80s Gundam shows. Including Victory which now just comes off as grim dark for the sake of it.
