That was a damned brilliant post. But not surprised he was banned for it.

Hell that whole thread is a perfect example. A few people poke their head in to say "I don't know if I'm allowed to not be OK with this..." only to have half the thread say "You can be OK with it. But you're just a regressive bigot." Honestly, while I'm glad that trans people are getting help at the same time I think there's an important discussion to be had here about our priorities as a society. Does a knee surgery that doesn't get covered not have the importance of having a feminine face? Where are the lines drawn?  Where should they be drawn? Considering that >60% of the country is obese but insurance doesn't cover therapies, drugs or treatments for it, or how many gaps there are for people in need of healthcare how does that impact the lines? I'm not saying it's a zero sum game, but we are not a country  of infinite resources. There's a discussion to be had. Instead we have a thread of people violently agreeing with each other and people pussyfooting around it.

I've come to the conclusion that on Gaf, once a thread goes down a certain path, that's all there is to it and heaven help you if you try to stray from that path.

So my take and the views of people around me might not be the best barometer for general consensus. Like, this party included a mimed DJ performance by a hyperactive trans dancer while the actual DJ pretended to be a bouncer in order to prove that fans react and interact more with individual personas than they do to the music those personas are creating and playing. And we were all super into that. Liberal scum personified.

BUT, my general takeaway from Sarkesian's videos is that she says uncontroversial stuff and points out common tropes in gaming that, when viewed in the aggregate, create a misogynistic environment and culture. I've never seen something that made me feel like she was attacking "gaming" or an individual game/creator (not that I would care either way). Nor would I say I have seen her express an opinion that heads in an extreme direction. Western games, and some Japanese, are made for white dudes under 30. idk who disagrees with that who isn't an entitled manchild.
