It's kinda why I play Magic: Online instead of doing FNM/drafts, despite the highway robbery tax Wizards does on Magic: Online.

MODO tax. :stahp

I know right? So blessed we are with those booster prices.

This?

There is such a thing as having a hobby, and then there is such a thing like having at least a semblance of self awareness just saying brehs.  :yeshrug

Yup. I play Magic the Gathering. I don't wear Magic shirts, put up Magic posters, own Magic figures. It's just a hobby, not an integral part of my hobby. If I ever start talking about the struggle of Magic players and talking about how, if you really think about it, they basically suffer the same discrimination as gay black atheist women, then I hope somebody throws my cardboard into a dumpster and set it aflame.

Vintage players are pretty discriminated against.  :larry

One of my tenants has a few Magic posters and shirts.  No figures to my knowledge unless one of the recent sets came with one (is that a thing? I know next to zero about Magic).

I almost bought a digital power 9, then I remembered that vintage isn't a thing and I'd basically be buying a bigger epeen.

But really, at the end of the day don't you need a bigger e-peen? I mean those e-mails can't lie, yeah? :larry

I'm saying, it sounded like a good idea in my head. Then I tried to explain why I was about spend 600 bucks on cards that don't actually exist, for a format that isn't actually played and the wife gave me that look like...."Is this guy forreal right now."

The thirst though.

There's nothing wrong with a little shame sometimes. When it comes to overdoing your hobby or interests there comes a point when it's too much. With moe that line pretty much starts at liking it period and gets worse as you acquire tangible crap.

What about shaming a woman whose hobby is nonstop sex? :hitler

That poster also pushes the limits of grammatical sentence construction. "This may be a bit of a derailment, but as an English teacher, I'm far more likely to judge someone as immature who fails to use apostrophes or capital letters, and I don't feel using a mobile device is an excuse as those devices are capable of producing proper punctuation and capitals." isn't a run-on sentence, but it's unnecessarily taxing to read.

Never Change GAF.

Quote
Having never played a Halo game, I was very interested in what bungie was aiming for with destiny, heck, their initial reveal sounded amazing

Quote
As more and more of destiny got revealed, it all sounded great to me, I was completely sold on the game. I read articles, I watched interviews, anything that was destiny related.

Quote
I get to finally play destiny.

I play it and at the end I am extremely underwhelmed by it. I pay no mind to it since it was only the alpha and it had a lot of work to be completed.

Quote
Fast forward to the beta, again I am ecstatic to play a more polished version. I only played the beta for about 10 hours. I was completely disappointed and saddened that this game I was excited about was bad. After the beta, destiny went from being day 1 to not buying it.

Quote
I still bought the game because everyone I know was and still are playing this game. I let the hype cloud my judgment. I didn't want to feel left out.

Quote
So who is to blame(?) for hype. The media? Gamers? And how hype influences people to buy games based on the level of recognition of that game. Is hype for a game a good thing or a bad thing?

To be fair that is probably what the poster is. The only way the majority of posts on GAF make sense is if you assume the person is around 14.

yeah he's 18 or something. while i was joking a bit, a lot of the release hype (commercials, previews, etc) seem completely geared to teens.

I feel his pain as someone who also writes super fucked up sentences. Too long, weird grammar, disconnected points. But man...you have to know when you're that guy. He has like a crushing lack of self awareness.

It's nbd, just don't present yourself as the God-Emperor (our undying Lord) of prescriptive grammar and writing in the English language if you have that inclination.

I'm kind of concerned that a tax accountant who moonlights as an editor and ghostwriter is more on the ball with this stuff than an English language teacher.

On one libertarian forum there's a "Law" that states anyone trying to correct/attack someones spelling/grammar will make a mistake of their own in the process. I assume it's been stolen from about a thousand other forums.
