As for my business model. It's simple. Give people what they want. Treat them with respect. If you want to copy and paste entire articles and post them on forums, please do. If you hate ads, use adblock. Tell me who created more goodwill from their fans... the grateful dead allowing everyone to record every show they ever made, or metallica suing napster and yelling at fans about stealing music? My plan is to be a good person on a good website that people like. People can subscribe. They can donate. They can do nothing. I can't control that. What I can control is how the site treats its customers. And I believe if we offer a good product people will come back. I believe if people take articles and post them around the web that it not only shows we aren't hounding for every single cent we can make but it also gets what we are saying out to a larger audience.

Idealistic and unsustainable? Maybe. But that isn't going to stop me from trying.

The current victim persecution in the Driveclub OT is hilarious. Especially since those videos came out earlier last week.  :lol

The review thread is going to be a doozy, especially if it doesn't get better scores than Forza Horizon 2.

Also..

Quote from: BradleyLove;133009811
Speaking with a couple of the devs last night, they fully expect to not review well... but... turns out they don't really care.  They're looking at the bigger picture, the long game (so to speak).  Driveclub after a few months will be a different beast.  They're focusing on constant support and development post-release.

A lot of the features were never intended for the original release but the 12 months delay allowed Evo to make a start on these features.  Maybe being so open and transparent about this stuff is going to bite them in the arse.  Maybe if they'd kept quiet about photo mode/weather/replays then such concerns about the title being "unfinished" would have been avoided.

I dunno about anyone else but I'm happy with the approach Evo have taken.  They are being totally open about what's coming.  That's something that should be applauded and appreciated rather than the constant bashing they're getting about an unfinished product.

Driveclub isn't going to be a "fire and forget" game for Evo.  It was clear last night it's been a labour of love and something that they're going to support going forwards with equal amounts of love.

On a separate note, imagine a new Motorstorm in these amazing environments.  Imagine each location, Scotland for example, being more of an open-world style map rather than a series of dedicated circuits/routes.

Just imagine...

;-)

What is the sudden acceptance of games that 'may' be good after a couple of months of patches and DLC? First Destiny and now potentially Driveclub. I don't pay full price for a game that 'may' be good in a couple of months. I don't have the time for that shit. Give me a good game now and if I like it I'll happily pay for DLC down the line. I'm not going to reward a dev who puts out a knowingly unfinished game, then also expects me to pay to make the game better.

Her husband (who IIRC had a record of domestic violence) killed her.

He also had some financial issues that prompted his move to (again IIRC) Deseret where his wife got into real estate.

Feeling sympathy for his real life tragic events, and admitting he completely fucked up wherever his internet personality surfaced, are not mutually exclusive.

I feel sympathy for the former, and absolutely none for the latter.

i don't understand what driveclub is supposed to be.

it's not an arcade racer because it doesn't have the framerate or creativity.
it's not a simulation because it doesn't have the physics.
it's not open world or involving of any interaction with traffic or anything.
it has some pretty environments which have no bearing on the game itself.
it doesn't have any kind of destruction derby element.
it's not a battle racer or has any other mechanical hook.

i mean, who is it for?

It most likely was always envisioned as a stop gap until the bigger racers have had time to be developed like turismo of course but it seems to have had a very troubled dev cycle.

Its a title in a month no one will care about most likely except the fanboys.

Same thing happens with certain xbox exclusive games of course from the diehards.

If Driveclub was a third party game, no one would even know its coming out and no one would care. Being first party it has a built in defense force.

Motorstorm and Driveclub have so much in common. Both are released in the first year of the system, both are from Evo, both are games that are liked because of the graphics over the gameplay, and both will be very disappointing to anyone who wants to play a racing game and have any semblance of fun. It's quite clear the only reason it's being championed is because it's an exclusive game, because any other game shipping missing huge features is almost always ridiculed to death on GAF (Destiny is one very recent example of this), but... not Driveclub.

I'll check out the free version, but I know I won't be buying into half of a game.  I'll save my coins for CoD and AssCreed.

Motorstorm: pacific rift is one of the best racing games last gen, so maybe they'll improve on drive club in later iterations.

motorstorm had a concept though. dune buggies tearing ass through canyons. however the game turned out, that's a hook you can hang your IP off of.

i feel like they could've given half driveclub's budget to whatever was left of psygnosis, pump out a new wipeout in time for launch and it'd still probably be the best exclusive on the system and propping up every sonyfriend's listwar argument. it'd be 60fps, too.

its basically Sony's PGR but with more online hooks (although that in itself is a series that had a decline in sales as it got new versions).

also its the middle ground racer (where the arcade end is Burnout/Need for Speed and the Sim end is GT)
