mcu fanthings are literally worse than hitler in ebola form jesus christ goddamn.

I can even understand why cape comic fanboys are the way they are, there is some awesome stuff in the comics medium. But the MCU? It's literally nothing but formulaic, mediocre crap at best. It's such a fucking weird thing to stan. Why the fuck would you stan mediocrity?
Because their childish hobby is validated by popular movies.

I actually really like it too. :shh

A tragic hero who's only a hero because he's trying to stave off eternal damnation he knows exists and awaits him because god is a lawful neutral asshole. :lawd

Even Shia isn't that bad in it. :-[
Shia's good, it's a good role for him. His qualities work with the character.

I think the same thing about Keanu. I know it's trite to talk about his wooden emotionless acting, but with Constaintine (sorta like in A Scanner Darkly) it works because the dude is condemned and like doesn't give a shit about things. Crazy demon shit happening all over the place and he's all like "seen it before, can I get back to dying yet?" Everyone in the movie is talking about this grand evil plan and dark things coming and blah blah blah but he totally doesn't care other than it's his job.

That to me, at least, sounds like a completely reasonable interpretation of the character. They just took out the sardonic humor. (Though it's still lurking underneath in a few scenes.)

Nothing wrong with MCU flicks. But the fandom is annoying as hell. Mostly cause it's Marvel comic stans feeling legitimized for all their wizardom over the years. Same for DC movie stans who love the Nolan Batmans TOO much(despite being a stan myself). Basically, what Stealthfan said.

They always make me laugh when they show up in movie discussions and still all they can talk about is comic books. Like all nerds, they tend to have one track minds. They still got nothing on king spergs(Trekkies, Star Wars nerds, Disneyfegs, etc.)

it would mean more if they knew the comics of the movies that they stan so hard. im not in any way saying that you have to be a comic reader to enjoy the movies, but when you go balls to the wall on a comic movie like your some sort of authority on the source, but admit to not knowing or caring about its source, you end up looking incredibly stupid.

eh, loki's outsized character is the only remotely interesting part of the thor movies. i mean yeah it's dripping with ridiculousness but at least he goes for it. he stands out.

otherwise:

• thor is boring and has zero presence.
• everything asgard is boring
• everything about planet earth is boring
• jane's buddies are corny and lame
• there are literally no cool setpieces (not that this makes a movie good but it at least distracts me from shittiness, see transformers)
• action in these movies is a dude smacking shit and a hammer flying to various locations
• the villains are boring, one-dimensional and have zero charisma/personality or noteworthy visual features*. did anyone give a fuck about the dark elves? lolno

*a recurring problem in mcu movies

Yeah, acting like an authority is stupid in a way. But at the same time, most of these characters are bigger than comics and always will be. I bet you 99% of the people who watched and loved Guardians Of The Galaxy never read and will never care about their comics. So there's no point.

You don't need to bet on that. :gurl You, and everyone in the world, knows that. :comeon

Honestly no, no you're not.

The amount of people who love this or that superhero without giving a shit about comics at all has eclipsed the comic nerds by billions for a while now, even before the superhero boom. Sure, nobody gave a shit about Iron Man or Thor before the movies. But the amount of people who love Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Hulk, Spider-Man, The X-Men and all the big well known ones before the boom did so way outside the comics.

Yeah, acting like an authority is stupid in a way. But at the same time, most of these characters are bigger than comics and always will be. I bet you 99% of the people who watched and loved Guardians Of The Galaxy never read and will never care about their comics. So there's no point.

the casual fan is who they market these to. im not denying that. my issue is with fans belittling others on a movie scale because they dont know as much about the movie as them, while not knowing much themselves despite being a self proclaimed expert on the source.

I admit I've argued with someone on the internet over the Nolan Batman movies who was talking for ages before about how it took Batman in all these new dark directions and made it serious and deep.

And then he just talked about special effects and corny sets when I pointed out that The Joker, Catwoman, The Penguin and Batman all are actually insane by horrible and tragic circumstance in Burton's films rather than various levels of sane terrorist/criminal.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
This was after he dismissed comics as stupid when I asked if he had read actually ever read an arc from a Batman comic since like 1970 or even after Knightfall where it's like ten straight years of Gotham's citizens suffering one massive calamity after another.

The only Marvel movies I've enjoyed are Captain America 2, Guardians, and maybe Iron Man 3. The rest have either been outright shitty or just run of the mill. I mean Marvel deserves praise for making this all connected, but lets not act like most of these comic book movies or tv shows aren't anything but mass market average media. The marvel stuff especially is extremely safe.

As far as comic movies go, honestly I never liked the X-men movies. They never captured what I liked about the X-men. I did like The Wolverine, well until a transformer showed up. Nolan's Batman movies may get a lot of shit thanks to the annoying fans, but they are actual honest to goodness good movies. Not comic book movies, good movies in general. Except maybe Rises gets a little unruly and messy.

Honestly the first two rami Spider-Man movies are pretty awesome with Spider-man 2 being the one comic book movie that I feel honestly feels like a comic book.  Too bad about the 3rd movie.

I'm pretty biased with Superman. I grew up with 1 and 2 and while they haven't aged I still like them. Returns is boring and Man of Steel is stupid, but whatever explosions.

I love the look and feel of the Burton Batman movies at least. The ooze personality and atmosphere and are just so strange. I do feel like they are closest to capturing the more comic booky nature of Batman.

I don't know. I don't get this hoopla over Marvel and how it's created fanboys simply for the movies themselves. They are decent action movies at best, but it's not like they come anywhere close to the comics. If you like the movies I don't know why you would'nt want to read the comics. Most of the movies pull from the comics and then filter them into an easy to sallow pull for the mass market.

Honestly, it's a pretty good movie. I hated the first one and did not want to see the 2nd one. A friend and I sunk into after a showing of the Amazing Spiderman 2(eww) and I was pretty surprised.

It does some decent work with it's actual title character. Has an actual plot beyond "dude wants to kill hero" or "dude wants to do something to a city". Feels like it has actual consequence and effects things. On top of that it's decently plotted and has good action. Can't really ask for more and I've never been much of a Cap fan beyond a few stories I read more because I liked the writer.
