Disco isn't as bad as advertised IMO. There were a lot of really great records during that 70s period like Donna Summers' stuff. The interesting thing about disco is how good the vocals were; lots of really good singers and melodies.

Giorgio Moroder productions, Chic, Hi NRG etc. etc. Tons of good stuff in the late 70s/early 80s.

Like anything, it started out decent and provocative, but then everyone had to stick thier fingers into it and make it mostly horrible. Although a few later songs like Don't Stop Until You Give Up and Heart of Glass almost make up for all the other horribleness.

My English teacher sophomore year was the most self-obsessed piece of cac garbage. He'd bullshit for the first fifteen minutes of each class, typically either appealing to the girls in the class by posturing as a jerk with a heart of gold or by repackaging Seinfeld plots as actual anecdotes from his daily life. In the instances when someone would be talking when he was actually doing his job, he'd raise his voice, isolate them amongst their classmates, then rant about how the entire class was being ungrateful.

His favorite band was U2 because "all their songs are inspired by Scripture."

So fuck U2.
