Combat system was great but there was hardly anything else interesting about it... XIII-2 took the combat, simplified it a but but also added some shit to do and decent character chemistry (and an even more batshit nonsensical plot). Lightning Returns added some fairly interesting sidequests but then fucked it up with an awful time-based system. XIII-2 is definitely the best of the 3.

Gotta say though, the worst part of mobile gaming is the quantity of titles instead of the quality of titles. If you rarely play mobile games it feels even harder to find the good shit versus finding stuff on PC or consoles.

I'm not even sure why Nintendo just doesn't put out like, Pokemon Soul Silver on the platform. Would insta-print money since they'd basically trump the emulator versions of this stuff by putting out a version for people that don't want to buy Nintendo hardware but want nostalgia.

(Though I guess the problem is mostly "controls.")

Everybody agrees on that. But we all think they're both a bit late, and due to their quirks might end up half assing it.

I think if anything they'll be slow and methodical as always. They aren't hurting for Cash (wish I invested in that shit) so it's basically a low risk/high reward merger.

It's like anything in the world, you just have to know where to look. The TouchArcade App, half a dozen different review websites, or even mega-forum threads can point you in the right direction. Even posting a specific genre on a sub-reddit will get you 20 different games you're looking for.

I don't think there is such a thing as being late to the mobile market, but I could see them half-assing it.  still, they'll net a ton of whales.

XIII-2 also made it so easy to the point where I didn't want to play it.  maybe there were boss fights/optional things that were a challenge.  people say XIII is "lol auto-battle" and they're wrong, but XIII-2 is kind of lol auto-battle

I never actually beat Gilgamesh. Fucker kinda requires you to breed monsters exclusively to fight him, which would have been fine if the whole game had conditioned me to do worthwhile monster breeding from the start, but I didn't even know where to begin by that point. I settled for beating Omega/Lightning/Ultros/PuPu which were all fun hard fights.
