Jake, you were reading patriarchal overtones into my disdain for the sex trade, but that shit is gender neutral. If my son paid his rent by taking it up the ass, I'd feel pretty horrible.
fair enough, gender-egalitarianism aside, I still think this is a toxic way to view people who make a living off of sex.
There are plenty of arguments to be made against the sex trade. if you brought up how legalization tends to increase human trafficking and other ancillary negative externalities, that wouldve made sense to me. If you brought up how properly regulating prostitution would be economically unfeasible in the United States, fine. But you didn't. You said that using sex in a particular way ("fuck[ing] your cake and eat[ing] it too", in your words) is objectively undignified, for reasons that "taking it up the ass" and "sell[ing] your front or back love cave" should just make readily apparent. Now, I know a lot of people on this board don't find my brand of ivory tower uber-liberal hippie dystopianism agreeable (for which you will all burn in Foucauldian hell for, make no mistake

), but at the very least, that shit isn't your decision to make. If my son was leading a healthy, happy life while working in the sex industry, in any capacity, how could I disown him after years of raising him. Hell, even if it wasn't healthy, as long as he knew what he was getting into, if that's really what he wanted to do, I wouldn't stop him; we all kill ourselves somehow. No, I'd be supportive, because that's what a fucking father does.
