The problem with making 30k a year (as a household) is that it puts you out of range of many federal programs that help people that make 20k a year. So, in the end, you could actually be losing money by making 10k more.
I have wasted way too much time trying to explain this to GAFfers, that there's no real tapering off, you're dropped out when you hit certain numbers, so that's why some people would "underwork" or even avoid it to maintain benefits.
I was victim blaming and hating poor people because I was arguing in favor of a tapering off in welfare programs if we weren't going to do a minimum income. (Which is simply absurd, I hate poor people because they don't have significant enough capital.)
