Whoever said that was either trolling or being a dumdum. Most diehard Soul Calibur fans didn't like SCIV that much and loved what was changed in SCV.

He's not wrong. God Hand was hyped to hell and IGN's review has valid points. Everyone that hypes it up and goes "IGN IS WRONG!" isn't helping the case for giving the game a chance. I played it when the hype was starting to blow up (shortly in the PS2->3 transition) and found it very unwhelming coming from Mikami. The brawl mechanics/dodge, controls were all poor. The story was trying to be a parody where it semi-works but I couldn't get into it. Just everything about it "wasn't for me" and so I'd probably rate it at 3/4 of 10 like IGN because it just didn't feel/play/look good. But then like the Last of Us "NO YOU'RE JUST PLAYING IT WRONG!"

i bought rocket league a couple of nights ago and its fun as fuck. i'd ignored it since it came out despite all the raving because it's free on PSN and i just i assumed it was some dross shit being canonised for console wars purposes like drive club or whatever.

I realize that that even nintendo itself has acknowledged that its too late for the wiiu and its time to move on essentially as fast as they can build whats next.

With that said,

I believe that SMM will have an insane attach rate and do amazingly well for the small console install base.

I think that it will capture gamers imagination in the way that only nintendo can and go on to to be a legendary title in the nintendo catalog.

I cant help but think that while a level creator is nothing new, it will be THE game that defines the use of the wiiU game pad and thus the system to its maximum potential.

I think that SMM will be the single biggest game on the wiiu when all is said and done

What do you guys think? Just another mario game or a massive point in nintendo history catalog wise?

The fanboys and shills have always been around but it feels like it has been taken to a terrible new level.

These days, I just find out how good a game is by looking up Youtubes of the game and skipping around randomly.  Unless it's a Musou game, in which I pre-order months ahead of release.  NeoGAF is pretty worthless in general but it is especially worthless when it comes to playing video games, ironically enough.  If I want to read about race and gender issues in games (and I don't), I'll go to NeoGAF.  For everything else, I have to go elsewhere.

The thing about God Hand is that there really aren't that many good 3d beat em ups, yet here's that game, being a league of its own. With 3d beat em ups, of the good ones, you've got maybe God Hand, The Warriors, Spikeout, Dynamite Deka (if you consider it a 3d beat em up and not 2d because it's 2d in style), and Musou. That's like, basically it unless you count games like Devil May Cry (I don't).

I like Beat'em Ups. Bare Knuckle/Streets of Rage is highly regarded by me. Same with Final Fight. God Hand executed the idea extremely poorly.

Maybe it's just the transition from 2D to 3D but every 3D beat'em up I've played has played pretty badly.
