Having been a lurker in FGC weekly threads for the past couple of years, Karsticles gets on my nerves. Dude tries way too hard to sound in the know for anything and everything, for shit he hasn't played in years either.

EDIT: This can be applied to Dahbomb as well. I have no clue why people talk about games they don't play so strenuously.

I'm a c-section baby because mom didn't dilate enough. The great thing about being in a hospital already when this happens is you can be moved to surgery asap. Some women aren't really built to give birth without dying, I'll be one of those, I don't mind going into a hospital if I decide to have a child because I'm already acutely aware of inherited issues that would require serious shit.

It's like assholes forget that natural births involve perineal tears.

Having a passing familiarity with why La Leche was created (don't ask), I'm not entirely unsympathetic to people who feel apprehensive about hospital births... but I have to wonder if people selecting home birth for "statistical" reasons look at statistics where a hospital would likely cream home birth, or if home birth's statistical advantages are material differences. Whole lot of justifying instead of convincing arguments in that FGC post...

women that receive c-sections have lower imprinting rates on their infant (imprinting is the phenomenon where your infant becomes attached to you as an emotionally significant individual, and it actually works both ways - movement through the vaginal canal stimulates the release of hormones that increase lovingness toward the infant), and lower attach rates.

I'd like to see the studies on this and how "imprinting" is defined. Also i'm pretty sure you can't imprint while dead so I'm glad my mom got a c-section.

Ironically for me all of my gyno stuff has been by dudes but a female nurse had to be present for reasons.

The first couple of times it was my primary doc doing routine pelvics and pap smears. Didn't care because this dude had already seen me nude plenty of times and it was natural to just do yet another procedure.

Then another time it was at the hospital doing a pelvic exam during my period to ensure I didn't have an ovarian cyst. If someone can find a way to make that sexual or get off on that, chances are they're just mental to begin with anyway what ya gonna do.

I lived with female roommates on two separate occasions and shared the bathroom both times.  The first girl managed to trash the bathroom with shit (not literally) strewn everywhere.  I have no idea what the hell was going on in there.  I'd complain, the next day, it was damn near spotless.  Then the re-trashing would begin thereafter.  She would get wasted almost every night.  She had a boyfriend who was interning across the country and she was in the process of almost cheating on him with another guy.  They'd get close to doing something, she would stop, kick him out, and spend the rest of the night crying to one of her friends on the phone.  Rinse and repeat for three months.  She tried to talk to me about it once before and told her I wasn't interested.  She was annoying and I was happy to see her move out.

The second girl was quiet and gone most of the time.  However she had a bad habit of clogging the toilet and then blaming me.  What happened is that she was flushing tampons and sometimes it would clog.  Seems kind of immature for a girl in her 20s to blame that stuff on me but she paid her share of the bills on time and was pretty low key otherwise so it was easy to deal with.  Someone who could consistently pay their bills and pay them on time was a rarity in my college years.

Some parts of being a woman a man isn't going to understand without being told about it by a woman.
Sharing a personal story.

I was rather oblivious to how women can get harassed or catcalled just going about their business in public.
I didn't think it was a thing until I walked with a female friend in an area not full of kids or grandparents and lo and behold strangers trying to hit on them. Conversing with friends a bit and they had more stories to share.
I didn't think it was prevalent, but I'm a man so I wouldn't really know.

Kind of going off on my own tangent here. But the base thing is, men can be oblivious to how things can be as a women. They then either are willing to learn, or shut it out and pretend that it must be some harpy that hates them for being a man.
You can tell which category a man falls under listening to them talk/comment.

I actually had a weird discussion, maybe it was on GAF, and I was confused by how many women admitted to flushing tampons. I was like "uh plumbing ain't made to handle something that expands and clogs piping brehettes." The defense was the labels said flushable but common sense dictates you don't put that kind of shit down the toilet.

The whole premise is so bizarre, especially in the wake of the not so hot 3D push. It should be evident that VR masks in homes are cumbersome, uncomfortable, an expensive luxury novelty item, and the hardware setup means you can't really share it with a group. Acting like it's all a superficial argument is really weird.

does Bernie legit advocate for collective ownership of the means of production? what I'm getting from his rhetoric is Occupy + "PATCO-gate was a mistake, deregulation is nothing but trash" + a bunch of policies that hold more weight for his electorate than are actually practical - $15 min wage as opposed to a more robust EITC and "open borders is a Koch brothers plot". dude's importance for the American Left seems to lie in that he's the only relevant (read: Vox cover article-relevant) candidate that's managed to appropriate the opposing party's boogeyman buzzwords into an ostensibly electable campaign platform

Minimum wage is practical (an hourly rate can be applied across the board and to most jobs) and one that will probably have an effect directly, even it is only one issue among many. Maybe not at 15$ though (My expertise in the US economy being what it is, I have no idea what a reasonable sustainable level would be).

Maybe not at 15$ though (My expertise in the US economy being what it is, I have no idea what a reasonable sustainable level would be).
from what I've read in the past 25 minutes, the benefits from small hikes in the min wage are perceived as more substantial than their costs by people who know what they're talking about, albeit it's impact on poverty is not as thorough as a (caveat: hypothetical) rework of the earned income tax credit. if we're being really really real though, the most effective welfare system is probably a combination of a basic income + tax credits which is obv nowhere near as politically feasible as letting the private sector front the costs through a mandatory min wage.

note, all that is about very broad, robust redistribution, not the abolition of private property. If we want to define socialism differently, that's totally fine, words change meaning, but we also need to acknowledge that the Social Dem vision of a welfare state is not synonymous with Marx's stateless utopia. Like at all. That was the point I was trying to get at, that when Bernie owns the title of big S socialism he reifies the Republican redefinition of the term. Which is largely indicative of the rift between Old and New Left

VomKriege

  • Do the moron

"Socialism" existed before Marx and yes it is much overdue to redefine the word. Sanders is probably not a Marxist and I agree with you that as such the label socialist as it stands is incorrect (though I wouldn't believe the Republicans have a very firm grasp on what that word entails when they use it). He seems to be a somewhat radical social-dem as far as the US goes though, which is not that bad all things considered.

Anyhow, I was only objecting to the minimum wage point and how I perceived you mentioned it. As I said it's actually one of the simplest, most direct and factual measures that can be decided to improve the income of a large segment of the population. To my knowledge it never tanked any first world economy, and certainly never did to the levels that opponents of the measure screamed about.

Steam refunds is likely the sole reason that WB pulled Arkham Knight from the Steam store and then bent over backwards to assure everyone that the PC port was going to be completely overhauled.
