OSU makes the Big Ten relevant. And recently, MSU. Barring sanctions OSU is almost always a top ten team and hasn't struggled against power 5 teams. Next season it'll start the season with two teams in the top 10 (OSU and MSU).
Ultimately the Big Ten now has three of the top 10 coaches in college football (Meyer, Dantonio, Harbaugh), Penn State is coming back (unfortunately), and Wisconsin is good. The conference will be quite relevant in the coming years, and I think the playoff commission made it clear that winning the Big Ten is almost a surefire way to get into the playoffs. The way the SEC is set up makes it very hard for them to get two teams into the playoffs.
