Square-Enix was one of the major early supporters of Steamworks, but mainly through the Eidos side of the business. At the time people hoped that The Last Remnant would lead to XIII/Versus XIII coming to the PC, but that turned out to be a one-off.
exactly - relative to their output (which was small last gen), you saw SH: Homecoming, Lords of Shadow, MGS Rising etc on Konami's end, and LR/eidos stuff on Square's. Konami barely makes games anymore (thank fuck), and SE dumping it's trash now shows most of their works, barring the highlight of their catalog which was The World Ends With You. perhaps "dump" sounded like more titles, but again, both pubs put out significantly less than in gens prior.
my point is, the smaller/interesting japanese devs who don't only do handheld/mobile didn't necessarily migrate. again, i'd like to see ports at some point, but as someone with quirky tastes for SHMUPs, rhythm, JRPG, b-tier action etc etc i think it's silly to pretend my Yakuzas/etc are finding a home there.
that said, himus wanting to support booty games in hopes of better ones being dropped is kinda noble, however silly. I hope there's a good winter sale at least.
