It's tied at the bottom of the top of the 12th so it's likely we will be watching this for three more hours until we get to see some kicking and punching. Fuck baseball. We don't have fight pass at the house I'm at, we don't have fox sports 2, and the cable provider here is dish network who isn't supported on fox sports go. Now we have to use an illegal with shit quality stream. FUCK. BASEBALL.

People have different tastes. Doesn't make you a hypocrite to point out that baseball sucks. Soccer isn't four hours long. Pro wrestling is known for being exciting. Shenmue is a video game that you can play for 30 minutes and put it up. But nothing stops baseball from ruining TV programming - an American tradition.

I freely acknowledge that beisbol is a boring sport to watch. I grew up with it, and it's still my favorite sport though. It is definitely an acquired taste and I don't really give a shit if other people like it. It is weird that baseball is my only nostalgic blindspot, though, but whatever. CACs gonna CAC.

ignoramous foreigner here, but baseball i can understand as something that comes from the same place as cricket. it's a middle class dad sport. put it on TV on sunday afternoon and fall asleep halfway through. one of life's little screensavers. not my thing, but i get where it's coming from.

NFL is the one i'm having issues with. they've started putting it on TV here at the dead hours and it is such an infuriating and bizarre sport to try and watch. it simultaneously requires the tolerance for obnoxious presentation required to sit through a transformers movie and a kind of saintly patience required to endure four hours of nothing/adverts for fifteen minutes of staccato action. action that is so full of bizarre arbitrary rules and stipulations that they require a fucking nasa control centre to help the ref out.

do NFL stadiums have big atmospheres? there's always a kind of faint murmuring with the occasional DE-FENCE grade chant, but they seem pretty dead on TV compared with what i'm used to. maybe it's just the open top acoustics?

Well my experience is limited to two stadiums (Huskies and Seahawks), but they are loud as fuck and well, energizing. Especially the Seahawks. I was at one of the later regular season games last year and it was insanity.

Is there an equalivent of a "hurry up/no huddle offense" where a pitcher just keeps throwing, and doesn't give the batter time to get ready - and would this be legal.

Yes. Pitchers need to make sure batters are ready.

It's considered bad form to pitch without the batter ready.  Moreover, spaced pitches are due to the catcher, as they call the game.  Quick pitching would hurt the pitcher not the hitter.

But really, 97MPH fastballs are rare IIRC. Mostly because that's a bit outside of most pro-pitchers pitching ability IIRC. Easy to blow your arm out if you do that "limit" constantly.
