I had to have a molar pulled last year. It was pretty depressing. I was unhappy to wear the bridge they made for me. I did wear it for about half a year, then stopped, and now it doesn’t fit right any longer.

Friends have told me that I can fly to the Philippines, have an implant tooth put in there, and flying back to Japan for about half the price or less than it costs here. Trouble is, if something goes wrong in the Philippines during the surgery, or if there are complications afterwards and I have to get them redone, I will feel stupid for having gone to the Philippines for dental work.

also when you tell everyone you're flying out to the philippines for some surgery they'll start being weird about your pronouns when you come back.

This is all yesterday’s triumph, but:
  • took out the trash just in time for collection truck
  • emptied washer and did sinkfull of dishes
  • washed and hung 2 loads of laundry to dry
  • called mom’s ISP a s fixed her email password
  • called mom’s bank and confirmed her balance, so I can help with paying her bills
  • mailed my federal taxes

And all of that except the last one was before I even started work in the morning.

Friday was less personally productive, but I was handling more USA-based stuff from 7AM-8AM JST, then working from 9AM to 10:30PM on a deliverable. Jesus, FML.

TODAY'S TRIUMPH IS IT IS MOTHERFUCKING SATURDAY.

Also, found out the Zero Audio Carbo Basso earphones that Sho Nuff helped me buy are not actually dead, just were plugged into a device with a bad port adapter.

Gonna have a couple posts of game pickups and restores.

I finally got the Ms. Pac Man working. Not restored per se, but working perfectly. Cosmetically..... enh. The cabinet looks like it has rolled down a hill.

Replaced RF filter, Fuse Blocks, rebuilt power supply, rerouted power to the power switch, safety interlock, and marquee light, replaced the LAMP CORD with a real power cable, replaced buttons, replaced on board amplifier, rebuilt joystick, replaced marquee and bezel glass.

Other weird thing is a cocktail pinball called Night Moves.

A company called International Concepts made these tables, but contracted Gottlieb to manufacture them. They thought cocktail tables would do GREAT in bars, so they did the hard sell on regular homeowners to buy them - sometimes telling people these machines would make so much money, they should buy one for themselves and then go into business for themselves and should buy two, or three, or TEN.

Thing is, if a bar wanted a game already they had one, and no place else really wanted another game. So they kinda sat and lost money, or went back home with the owner. So no one liked them, the owners hated them, and they stopped getting made.

Not many survived, but I'm glad they did. I mean look at this thing. It seriously looks like it should ride along with Crockett around Miami and arrest Phil Collins for drug running. The game is about DANCING. Now, to be honest the songs *are* bangers. It's 30 inches high, just nice enough to put your drink on.

Folks that is real laminate woodgrain.

Lastly I picked up a pretty wrecked Jungle Lord. It's... a project.

But it was mostly an excuse for me to drive near Columbus and pick up some fresh White Castle sliders.

Coming up next, either this week or next week is a grail for me. So, so many people hated it, but it defined my arcade childhood.

Also if you want me to stop posting these here, just say so. I could put them on the gaming side.

zomgee you are living your best life right there! Night moves is an incredibly fun little table, I've only seen two out there going to cons. Yours looks like it's in excellent condition compared to those.

I've got a Buckaneer table that I intended to fix, but never got around to rewiring and relighting.

I really want the new JP and TMNT tables, but I don't have that kinda cash.

Holy crap what shows did you go to? I haven't been to enough. And all of them have been cancelled this year.

I found Jurassic Park to be a little stiff but TMNT looks to be great. And I don't have that kinda cash either. But if things keep going the way they are, no one will have that kinda cash.

Buckaneer is an EM and I am terrified of those. I've owned two, both of which I opened up, looked at, stared at, and closed them and sold them to someone else. I am not that smart.  I have 12 working tables with 4 projects right now and 2 arcade games. I can work on solid state pins all day, but EMs just mystify me.

Been to mostly west coast pin/arcade (Cal Extreme, NW pinball, Portland RetroCon) cons I'm missing them as well this year.

Tell me about EM's I damn near shocked all the feeling out of my hand one time. I learned really quickly that those things can practically kill you if you don't respect them. I was gonna clean it up a bit and remove some rust from the playfield before COVID happened. So it'll have to wait till I can get to where it is stored. I bought a relight kit and new wire harnesses the last con I was at. I was thinking about converting it for online play so I can setup a streaming rig with it. Those seem to be picking up a lot of steam and people have found ways to turn that into getting newer tables sent to them for free.

Ok, here's the special thing I got. It's a Space Ace dedicated cabinet, one of only 400 made. This one has the replacement Merlin board that allows you to use upgraded Laserdisc players as well as play all three Bluth games Dragon's Lair, Dragon's Lair II, and Space Ace. This was really one of my white whales.

Now I am out of space, time, and money. But 12 year old me is happy.

I hope it is reliable. I wouldn't buy LG stuff unless it was non-critical. The laundry/dryer combo machines have been available in Japan for 20 years, as space is at a premium and almost no home has space for a dryer. My impression is they break down a lot.

This is the model I got:

http://amazon.com/dp/B0039V7JFG/

I did my research. It's considered to be the best brand for this kind of thing.

Just did a sketchy home repair on this thing, thought about chronovore the whole time! Wouldn’t buy one again but it’s lasted ~5 years so far :lol

The drain pump on them are absolutely trash, that’s what I just “fixed.” The impeller was free spinning from the core of the turbine so to keep it going awhile I sank a screw through the side of it (got this idea from YouTube) to stop that. Seems to be pumping strong again. But chrono was right, it is a pain to work on, I know from doing it several times

Just got back from the dentist. I was planning on holding off on it cause I read dental offices are a little bit of higher risk for catching covid-19, but considering that schools are opening up and that apparently a lot of parents, really, REALLY hate their kids, I figured it's better to go now than later.

Anyway, every time I go to the dentist, I'm always nervous, even if I've been doing a good job keeping up with the dental hygiene. I'm always worried to discover my gums may be in worse condition than I assumed (as this has actually been the case for many, many years).

Thankfully, that was NOT the case, and all I needed was a regular, standard cleaning. This marks 4 and 1/2 years of good work on my part. That's how long it's been since I needed any serious dental work done, like deep cleanings. Just as a reminder, I grew up with constant and severe dental problems. Problems that I spent most of my life fighting, that got progressively worse over time and eventually culminated in some major and expensive treatments.

But thankfully, I eventually discovered what was missing in my regimen 4 1/2 years ago, and have been in great shape ever since (They even got rid of this really annoying stain I had on one of my teeth for like 8 months!) This may not seem impressive, but for me personally it's a huge deal. It's probably the longest stretch of good teeth/gums I've had since elementary school! :rock

I finished running a 5K straight through for the first time yesterday. I added running to my routine about 5 weeks ago, but was only doing like 2 1/2 miles and walking 30% of it, started setting the distance to 5K on July 27th, end time was 44 mins, with a run 2 walk 1 pace. Last Friday I did 2 miles straight and then walked a lap where needed until finishing up, and on my 3 runs this week, I was doing 2 1/2 miles and then walk maybe one or two laps total on the finish. Woke up yesterday feeling like I had a lot of energy and needed to do something, so I did a run, went from doing endless laps in my yard to just running around the whole neighborhood, ran straight through for a 33 min finish. Felt pretty good, brehs :jeb

Hopefully I'll be able to still do it straight through every time with my normal 2 hours and 5 miles of walking before hand instead of going into it totally fresh like yesterday. Also 30 min or below is really my goal to get to.
Are you walking for 2 hours before you start your run?
