Had to install a VPN for a work project, which I paid for out of my own pocket for expediency. So I've got a year of that before I need to decide to continue using it. Until now, it's just been on my work PC, but I put it on my iPad and now I'm listening to Pandora again.
I started using Pandora just about as soon as it came out. It was one of the first post-dot-bomb Web 2.0 sites that showed the promise of what an internet-enabled media ecosystem could provide. I gobbled up the first real source of new music I'd had since Napster, and college prior to that.
Then the RIAA swooped in and mandated that Internet Radio stations have a higher per-play rate than regular radio stations, and additionally forced them to lock their broadcast to specific regions, arguing that they're distributing the content to territories over which they have no right. It's garbage tactics put in place until their lazy, reactionary, and protectionist asses could develop their own version of the service.
Anyway, I'm listening to it again, and loving it.
