I was gonna bitch in the struggle thread that weight loss has been too slow but tbh I should be lucky I'm losing fat at all with how shit I've been feeling.

I've almost reached a point where I feel normal again. I don't want normal though. I want slim/skinny. :noah

I still have months to go. Wish me luck brehs. :doge

Edit: it's especially nice that my face is thinner too. I look so much better that way. :whew

Edit2: the more I think about it the better I feel about it. 2018 off to a great yet rocky start :rejoice
Weight loss is such an amazing feeling. I remember when I lost ~35 pounds in like 3 months and, even though that was a hell of a ride, I felt so much better at the end.

Had a good two-week trip to the USA and am now back in Japan after a 13-hour flight, 2-hour layover, and another 3-hour flight. I am jetlagged but so happy to come home and be with my kids.

I was discussing the liar’s paradox and the chicken and the egg mutual recursion with my daughter this morning. On the way to preschool. I have created a being of such ferocious intelligence, it terrifies and elates me in equal measure.

I’m ‘working’ from home today. Working on getting a little loose this morning, and then cleaning myself up before the wife and kid get home and I have to be a grown up again.

You can take that to mean drink, drugs, or wanking. Or all three.

Fuck, I might even play one of those video games that I bought on Steam four years ago.

Friend asked me to fly over to London to Arsenal vs AC Milan as its his birthday that week.

Flight: 25 euro
Game Tickets: 25 euro
Public Transport connections to and from airport: 55 euro
Sleeping at my mates: free

Maybe spend another 50-100 on drinks and food.

:bow 150-200 euro for a two night getaway to my mate and seeing the Arsenal :bow2

Yes the journey to the airport by public transport is more expansive then flying across  :lol

Technically it's a triumph from yesterday but...

I heard about some reorg stuff going on in my group about a month ago that seemed like it was putting someone in a position that I was pretty sure was mine.  It agitated me so much that I couldn't resist calling my VP an hour before I went to the airport to go to Russia.  I told her I wanted to have a talk with her about my future in the organization and we set up a meeting.  The meeting happened yesterday and went better than I ever would have thought.  She started off by telling me that she had made up her mind some time ago that whatever I decided I wanted to do in the organization she felt that I had earned my right to it already and that I only needed to tell her and she would get me on the path that would put me there and then she sat there for a minute and asked "So what do you want to do?"

It felt great.  I ended up telling her what I thought I should be doing for the group, why I like it and how that ties in with our strategic goals.  The conversation ended with a broad stroke plan to quickly do some reorgs and create a position that we discussed.  I also got the chance to offload a bunch of random responsibilities I've either inherited or held onto due to the downturn we went through.  Also up until now I've kind of sat back and let promotions and other changes be offered to me, but this pushed me out of that mode as well.  All in all I'm pretty darn happy.

Train to/from Stansted is a fucking tourist trap (like the Heathrow """Express"""). Just get a bus to/from Liverpool Street or Stratford (there may be a couple more).

I took a bus to/from Stansted to/from Stratford like 20 times. 6-7quid one way at worst, takes ~50mins.

Stansted "Express" is like 45mins.

I started a 23 lap endurance race in Forza. It took 14 laps to get to 1st place. On lap 17 I realized I needed a pit stop and I should have taken it like 5 laps earlier. Came out of the pit in 19th place and my only goal to get to at least 3rd but I figured I had just wasted an hour of my time. Managed to nab 1st place halfway through the final lap. It was at that time my wife started yelling “go go go!!!” and I realized that not only was she watching but that she was invested. It was a damn good race.

It's so unfair that Scandinavians have all the snow in the world but never any snow days.
We should get a sun day just to compensate, but nooooo.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuu

A friends mom on FB who is a hardcore bible thumper shared one of those “I bet you won’t share this because you’re embarrassed to have Jesus on your wall” Obi Wan memes on FB proudly declaring “I love Jesus. Sharing!”  I have never seen anyone actually fall for it and I nearly peed with delight. Someone posted a comment breaking the truth to her.

I hate-hate-hate the subscription model for software. The idea that companies think they should be able to get an unending revenue stream for something they are not actively investing in is obscene. Accordingly:

I've canceled my Adobe "Creative Cloud" membership, in order to refocus on competitive apps. macOS Pixelmator is effectively Photoshop, except it's a fully OS-aware/advantageous app minus a tremendous amount of AdobeCruft. I also picked up Affinity Designer and Photo during their holiday sale in December, and hadn't even booted them up yet. :-/

I disagree that Adobe is not investing in their Creative Cloud apps. It may be different for Photoshop, but the quarterly updates to Premiere Pro are not just keeping them at pace with the competition, but actively increasing their lead. I really love Premiere Pro. <3

But hey, if you find something that works better for you, more power to you.

They suck at Acrobat Pro upgrades, too. Maybe Premiere gets all their update love.
