Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
« on: November 04, 2014, 02:30:13 PM »
GOTY deserves its own thread. Just got to Depths 1 on Hard. Everything looks gorgeous and the new gameplay engine feels right/a ton better. So many new monsters and items just in the first 30 min of playing the game. This is going to keep me busy for months!

Died in Depths 2 just now ;_;

What's the difference between Hard and Normal? I'm only playing Hard and not finding it that bad. Is normal just a babby mode?

GAF said that Brimstone is stronger now, but I haven't gotten it yet. Brimstone was kinda meh in the original game without using using the glitch.

I was wrecking shop in this run. I had Spirit of the Night, Polyphemus, Charged Shot, and Piercing Shot, plus my attack power maxed and a ton of black hearts. Mom went down in seconds.

Is this a sequel?

not really. it's just a remake that's more fleshed out and using a new engine instead of flash.

basically the same situation as when they made Super Meat Boy a full release after the original flash version.

It's like Binding of Isaac 1.75. Hard to say it's a sequel since it is the same root game, but holy shit there's a ton of new content.

How do you unlock Azazel?

Played this quickly yesterday, since it came out late in the day Europe time.
Defeated mom in one turn, something that took me way more tries the first time in the old version.

It's fun to figure out all the new enemies and what the powerups do.
At some point it kept dropping my pick ups automatically?

Also: I beat Mom this morning on Vita and wanted to sync my save so I could continue on PS4 down the line

so I hit the "sync" button on the file save screen

and i guess it doesn't do what I thought

because it "syncs" my save to the last time it uploaded, wiping my save.
nat

Re: Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
« Reply #31 on: November 07, 2014, 12:05:25 AM »
That sounds like something goofed somewhere. When you sync, it's supposed to detect which is the most recent save and then upload/download the corresponding one.

In my case, I've got an unknown error that happens every single time I try to sync on PS4, which even a complete reinstall didnt fix. I've done way more progress on Vita, so I guess I'm stuck playing there for the time being.

Check out this stuuuuuuuuuuuupid Cain build I had.

That is an ever-present Brimstone circle that I could control with the shoot buttons. I had full damage. It's a crying shame I didn't have access to the chest, cause this build was so ridiculously OP that it would've just chewed through it.

How do you get a screenshot?

I'm doing a really fun run. I have a sack spouting spiders and a buddy generating flies.
Plus a brimstone buddy, max power tears, can stomp rocks, etc.

I got a Lucky Rock trinket early on that not only increased the item drop rate in general, but made it so every single drop was the multi-item version (double coins, keyrings and double bombs). Hooooly shit that was a good run. I could pretty much buy out everything in every store and clean out all the arcades and still finished with something like 99 cents , 50 bombs and 40 keys.

Maaan, secrets not being unlockable during Challenge runs is so dumb.  :'( I did the boss rush room entirely by accident cause I didn't know wtf it was, cleared it, and got nothing for it.

(Then again, the Computer Savvy challenge is pretty ridiculously easy)

this game is tits, unlocked everyone but Samson and Judas, beat with Azazel and Cain. The new characters are rad, I love Lazarus soooo much.

Mom's Heart is a lot harder in Rebirth, it's really like a bullet hell. No more standing to the side and dumping for 2 minutes.

Awesome game tho, can't stop playing.

the 8GBs rec is mainly to inform people that performance is improved with up to that amount of RAM, the game isn't so intensive

I wanted to mention also that this game is a perfect fit for Vita. such a great hit-it-n-quit-it game

Playing on Vita reminds me of playing on the original shitty flash version, so it's great.

Man, giving Samson three hearts in Rebirth makes him so much better to play as. I haaaated Samson in the original, but that extra leeway lets you actually put bloodlust to use instead of having to cower due to having no life from the start.

I haven't had any performance issues on my vita 2000 but maybe it's cuz I don't have a reference to draw from.

Re: Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

To be fair it runs fine 90% of the time, which is still better than the flash version, but there's noticeable slowdown during parts like the boss rush room. Nothing that would stop you from playing the game of course.

Used We have to go Deeper on Utero 2 after clearing 1 with no hits thinking it'd count for the trophy. At least I got into Sheol. :(
