You sure you don't want to have the baby play the game while you watch, making the movie going experience even more immersive

Yeah, all joking aside, I'll be skipping this one.

Finished the game on Hard with Aim Assist off in about 6h30mins.

Amazing visuals both artistically and technically and the lore has potential but the encounter design and total lack of enemy variation really killed my enjoyment once I reached the halfway mark.

You create a game about werewolves and all you make me do is fight human rebels wearing bowler hats. It's unbelievable really, throw me in a room with random cover strewn about and call in the bowler hats. There was no room for any sort of tactics beyond headshot everything and sometimes throw a grenade or activate blacksight.

I can't believe how poor the werewolf encounters were too, utterly devoid of any sort of creativity or craftsmanship. I kept expecting the game to mix things up and surprise me but it never did, from start to finish it never really changed at all in terms of encounters. Baffling, truly baffling. Feels like a game designed entirely by a bunch of artists who just didn't care much for the moment to moment gameplay as long as things looked and sounded good.

They knocked it out of the park on that front but that's about it. I really hope that the studio gets the chance to create a more substantial sequel, something that doesn't feel so empty and hollow.

I watched parts of the giantbomb quicklook and for a game that relies on QTEs you'd think it'd handle failure with branching QTEs like heavy rain or knock off some health, not an instant kill and cut to black.

The enemy variety thing doesn't seem to matter since (apparently) some dude with a fucking shotgun is the most dangerous enemy in the entire fucking game  :lol :lol :lol :lol

Also i'll check the game out eventually just at like $20 or less

i can't believe they didn't even deliver on the werewolves.  that was like...the whole appeal.  but I guess it's hard to work them into stop-n-pop AAA bullshit.  Might have to actually balance combat around them, which would require giving at least one shit about gameplay.

Game is pretty cool, best looking console game by far. Shooting feels great. Story is not original but is told very well. Some real cool weapons. Setting and attention to details are stellar.

Halfway in Id say its an 8/10 for me.

This thread and playing Infamous First Light for free lately (thanks to PS+) has got me thinking about how weak Sony's 1st party stuff has been on PS4 so far:

Killzone - Graphics great, gunplay good, multiplayer decent, good campaign length, lots of content....but the level design is shit and narrative is shit, so the campaign is miserably bad.
Knack - Game is good, fuck you all
Infamous SS - Graphics pretty good (hate the inconsistent framerate, it's bugging me so much in FL, hovers around 40fps), but no multiplayer, campaign is very light on content and narrative sucks; pretty forgettable game that's pretty to look at but dull to play and a big step down from fun gameplay-driven Infamous 2 and that vampire one.
Driveclub - Very solid racer that was a disaster at launch, great graphics, good gameplay, decent campaign length, good multiplayer; could use some more content but about on par with PGR3
The Order - graphics great, gunplay sounds ok?, no multiplayer, short campaign, weak level design and weak narrative for a weak campaign with no other content so game is bad

Upcoming for 2015:
Bloodborne  - Will probably be good since it's not really a Sony game and From's been consistent lately
Uncharted 4 - Probably good since ND has a good track record and is probably smart enough to not focus entirely on graphics, graphics, graphics at the expense of an actual good game underneath

Pretty mixed bag.  Feels like they need some tightening in on publisher control on some of these games.  Make sure they have enough content for what the market requires, make sure they WORK at launch, and double check that the game isn't less "fun" than its predecessor.  Some of them seem like they could be ok 7/10 or 8/10 starts for 9/10 sequels like Driveclub, Knack or Infamous if the jump is a Inf1 -> Inf2 gameplay upgrade.  But honestly I'd rather see Infamous guys do something else for their next game as I think they've ran this train dry with the series and there probably shouldn't be an Order 2 from the sounds of it.  I'm also glad that Killzone appears dead and the guys are making a Dragons Dogma game instead.

Hopefully some of this is just first year fuck ups where they put the wrong priorities to focus on graphical wow to sell consoles over quality gameplay and content.  If Uncharted fucks up it'll be pretty bad for their 1st party track record, but then Knack 2 and its GoTY awards it will win will save them in the end.

Yeah I dunno why I wrote all that.

I really liked the building blocks Knack was made of, it just needed significant content on top of it. It certainly had the length to go with it, but having no new moves added to your repertoire for the whole 10 hours the game lasts really put a damper on things. Even the extra forms that Knack can get after you beat the game would have been a welcome addition if they were properly integrated into the game and not a post game thing.

It was nice playing a genuinely hard game though. Very easy to die but it was almost always your fault when you did.

Yeah, it was a good game with only enough content variety for a 4-6 hour game, yet instead it was like 12 hours long.  Sequel just needs more content variety and better progression (gaining new moves throughout the story and such) and it'd be perfect.  The core gameplay is a nice bayonetta mini style of "learn the enemy attacks, dodge and counter" and the challenge level was spot on.  Nice graphics too and the story was fine for a kids game.

Definitely.  The only Sony title I have on PS4 is TLOU...a port-up.  In general I still think that the PS4 is a pretty weak system, content-wise.  The only game I own for it that is not available on another platform is Oneechanbara Z2.  Literally every game I'm interested on it that is coming out is on at least one other platform.  Step up your game, Sony.

i was interested in the bouncer because it was a dream factory game and i loved tobal. in the end i never got around to playing it. i heard the multiplayer mode could be fun as a 4-player variation on a tobal-like fighter, but only if you unlocked everything first by playing through the story 6 times or something.

from my experience, i feel for anyone who was following the order because they actually wanted a Victorian steampunk cinematic shooter or whatever. they didn't ask to be dragged into the horrors of console war.  :'(

hearing it's made by the tobal people is making me want to track it down again.
A vast realm of disappointment awaits you. As this board's number one Tobal fanboy, I can say that The Bouncer is the worst possible combination of Square sensibilities overlaid on Dream Factory's fighting engine strapped into a camera which doesn't support it.

Fear. Pain. Anguish.

Just play RPG mode in Tobal 2, it's better.

i've never actually played the bouncer but i DID buy it on ebay recently in a combo pack with Dirge of Cerberus

LOL, man, I bet it has not aged well at all.   :lol

Is Dirge even playable now?  Didn't it have some required online stuff?
Dirge was unplayable even at its launch.

it was; a series of 100 challenge levels replaced it.

I might be the only one in the world who enjoys that game. enjoy it an in ironic sense, but still. the director said they were aiming for a half-life inspired game; instead they ended up with a fps that you'd find in a costco bargain bin in 1995. I love early fps games so I ended up having a lot of fun with dirge.

Almost finished, last 3 chapters now.

Bit wonky stealth section now which is the low point of the game. Shooting is real good in this one, real weight behind it.

Still in that 8/10 territory for me, really hope they can flesh it out in a sequel as this game realy deserves one.

Already put it up for sale ofc since there is no reason to keep it beyond tomorrow :)

Tobal 1 quest mode is pretty fun too.  Bit of an acquired taste since it takes a minute to get the controls down.  And the last dungeon is fucking hard.

I do too, which speedstats makes fun of me for. It's super jank, but its the right kind of jank where I can still have some fun with the game despite recognizing how terrible it is. I just make fun of how seriously the story tries to take itself, like having color coded villains named after the color itself, a gimp younger brother and retconning Hojo to upload his conscience at the end of FF7 before he died.

Dirge has a sweet Hamauzu soundtrack. It seemed like an ok game when I played it (made it to the second or third level iirc), but I've barely played any TPS or FPS so I'm guessing it not measuring up to modern genre standards is part of the issue.

I didn't know buying a copy of a game means you have to keep it.

I played the game and sold it again, only cost me 20 euro.

Maybe in America you don't have this kind of freedom.

Please feel free to contact me about more money saving ideas.

The Order is'nt even that bad. A solid game that for some reason I guess is tasked with being some great savior of the PS4. It's just a solid playing TPS with fantastic visuals and an interesting setting and premise. Don't know why the game has gotten this much flack. It's hardly offensive.

I mean it's not a great game. Though I have found that it has enough gameplay, it certainly is'nt on the level of say Metal Gear Solid 2 or the Xenosaga games when it comes to cutscenes over gameplay. Or at least it dosen't feel like it does. Still I'm enjoying it. It looks great and whatever, I like these games they really go balls crazy with extreme detail over these settings that aren't done to death. I'm very forgiving when they are at least ok in the game area.

I'm happy Sony seems to be ok funding these projects that don't deserve it. From Heavenly Sword, Beyond Two Worlds, Tokyo Jungle, to The Order and the upcoming Until Dawn. I don't get how these games get huge budgets and they aren't actually usually good games. Still, I'm happy they exist if only for thier odd and noteworthy imperfect productions.
