I remember liker Mark of Kri, but I don't think I ever finished it. In fact, what I remember most about it was how smoothly the transition from the loading screen (concept art of the upcoming stage) into gameplay was.

Gladius was sooo. fucking. slow. When I tried to play it a year or so ago. Maybe the Gamecube version at least feels snappier than the PS2 version, I dunno. Gonna try it again some time, but I didn't get very far the first time.

Bought it for 5 dollars on clearance (back when Circuit City was a thing), but never opened it.

I miss those CC clearance sales. They didn't give a fuck towards the end.

Don't make the same mistake I did, start on normal difficulty. You can't switch in the middle of game and hard mode is more frustrating than challenging.

The gladiator matches have more enemies than usual, and they have more health.

Now that sounds dandy, except when you have to fight three lions/tigers with your bare fists, when originally it would be one or two. You'll end up fighting beefy dudes with no weapons left because they all broke when fighting the other beefy dudes. Shit just feels unbalanced.

It is gratifying though if you survive an onslaught of dudes and chicks with a sliver of health left. Have no idea if hard difficulty changes the stealth sections.

There was years of Lucasarts not making a sequel before they couldn't anymore.

Gladius was from the last wave from when Lucasarts was actually trying. Watching the slow, self-inflicted spiral of Lucasarts was endlessly painful. Like watching a videogame company with Alzheimers, they forgot how to do things they were really good at (adventures), they stopped doing anything new (IP), and eventually they even stopped doing basic sorts of brush-your-teeth kinda things (Star Wars).

and just when they were starting to show some mild signs of life again, the plug gets pulled and Grandpa goes back to rubber pants. Lucasarts depresses me.
